I was on a blind date today. I don't know...I didn't like the guy at his appearrance, but I want to give him a chance. After all, it's not all about the looks, right? I'm in my 30's, and I've dated a-plenty, so I'm going to lay some advice on you younger ladies. (And men, too, I suppose.) I didn't date at all in high school, except for school dances, and now I wish I had! The opportunities were there, but I was really picky- I didn't like the boys who liked me, and the boys I liked never liked me (the usual complaint). I wish I'd known then how impermanent it all was, that most people don't find the love of their life in high school, that you don't need to be in love to date. In my suburban high school, there really wasn't "dating"- it was just hanging out, driving around, having basement parties, and so on. Still, part of me wishes I'd "gone out with" some of those guys (in other words, referred to them as my boyfriend, and made out with them after school and at parties). I know it sounds silly, but it would have given me more experience to build from when I started "dating" on an adult level. I think there's a lot of interest in old school social/casual dating now, with the advent of online dating/introduction services, and people are less insistent that you have to know someone for ages before you "date" him. The whole point of dating is to have fun and get to know someone. If you're not attracted to him, or if he's pressuring you for sex when you're not interested, or you just find him boring, you don't have to go out with him again. A "date" can be walking home together, or just hanging out at a party together, or actually doing the traditional dinner-and-a-movie routine, but it doesn't have to automatically lead to any kind of romantic or sexual relationship. It also doesn't have to come with repeated reassurances that you're just going out (to a dance, to a party, whatever) "as friends". You can just have a date and see how it goes. It's okay to just have a nice night out with someone and not have it mean a thing. It's hard as hell to tell someone you don't want a second date (tip: don't tell him you don't want a second date unless he asks for one! he might not want one either!), and even harder to find out the guy doesn't want to see you again, but it's the sort of thing you can only learn to handle through experience.

Sorry if I'm overstepping my bounds (I know I'm way off the original topic), but I really wish I'd known this stuff when I was 15!

I didn't date in HS because I was so shy! Took me until my junior/senior year to finally come out of my shell. Now, I would definetly go with a guy if he asked me. My only prerequisite is that I have know the guy for at least a week!! hahaha.

Very nice of him to personalize the autographs nonetheless! Even if it takes a bit longer, getting a personalized autograph and a smile really means a lot to us fans; and I think he knows that as well.

Cool moment, though. My stepmom's the one with Netflix so I was trying to lure her to rent it. Since she's a therapist, I figured she'd like the schizophrenic aspect, and I added, "The main guy's pretty cute too." She asked who it was, and I told her, "Paul McGillion." She got this little grin on her face and said, "Ah, yes." She doesn't remember what she's seen him in, but he apparently made an impact!

You sneaky bugger, Seti! Luring your stepmom was really clever. And it's really cool that she remembered the guy.

What a sweet pic from 'Poisoning the Well'! Carson was so adorable and cute in that episode. I'm glad they offered this opportunity to shine to PM in the first season. I'm sure he won over the hearts of MANY fans with this performance!

I see you can just have a bit of fun with the dating but to be honest with you, if you don't feel like seeing the guy again, don't. No one presses you to find the love of your life in him but if you didn't enjoy the evening with him enough that you even want to spend time with the guy you're neither doing yourself nor the guy a favour if you're not being honest. There has to be the least bit of chemestry between you two to make the time you spend together worthwhile for the both of you.

I was just enjoying watching "Replicant" this weekend ... not a bad film, actually! And since I've watched a number of truly BAD films just because Paul is in them that was a nice bonus!

I actually ended up renting a copy to get the special features ... and was pleasantly surprised to see Paulie has an extra several minutes in the "Deleted Scenes" - W00t!!

Well, I was on some dates but I don't like them at all. Guys, I donno if you think you're weird in some ways but I think I am. I'm scared from "real" men.... (You know what I mean.) I just don't want to have a date with someone I know I can't love. I prefer stay alone and stay single. If there is a boy I like, that's sure he doesn't like me that way and vice versa.
