Well, that's the point. To tell you the truth, GW is the first international website, where I dared to register and even write something (No, I regret nothing!)
But my previous experience was quite... poor.
The matter is, a multifandom contest was held recently, orgs created a community in a websire; there were several teams representing different fandoms - books, games, TVshows, etc. All of them draw arts, write fanfiction, etc. (and I, btw, played for Mass Effect team).
The first part of the contest was the introduction, when each team presented their own fandom, told everybody from the audience and other teams about the world, characters, plot.
So one day I managed to find little time to read some works of Stargate-team. But when I started looking through their fandom presentation, I was… somehow surprized and shocked.
The team presented several main characters of SG: Atlantis
Including Lorne and Zelenka
BUT
Not a single word was told about Doctor Weir
When I asked the team about that, the answer was something like "Ugh, well, there are too many characters in Stargate, so we decided to present only the most important and beloved ones!"
And that was… WTF, people?
You say she’s not one of the main characters? That she wasn’t important for Atlantis during all that time? She wasn't the soul of it? Why that ingnorance towards her?
That upset me, so I decided to quit my own sad fandom bog

Yeah i notice that one some website's Weir isn't a favorite character. But i find also a fiew where she is really populair so think i'm with Falcon where you are looking for ^^.

Well, to be fair the ladies aren't as popular as the guys are. There's no denying that, even here on GW the appreciation/thunk threads for the male characters are super active, while the ladies' are near dorment.
And they never were as popular. I'm currently involved in a Reversebang ficathon on LJ and 3/4 of the art-prompts were McShep, and there were just three I think that had a lady as one of the main characters. The McShep was the first claimed, and the rest just barely got a claim at all.

To top that, my favorite character is Kate Heightmeyer so I'm double screwed.

Yeah but look to a lot of shows on tv. The most has 5 ore 6 males and 2 sometimes 3 women.
I have a little bit more luck then you because Weir is my favorite. But with SG1 im a little bit screwed ^^.

Kate is very pretty and adorable, that's a pity we didn't have an opportunity to enjoy her appearance that much....
P.S. I understand you rather well, as I have one character (from a Japanese manga) that I love strongly and even more than anyone else from the main cast, but... he appeared in 6, maybe 7 chapters of >230 chapters that manga has in total.

Hell yeah, fanfiction is a real blessing And I'll keep it in mind and try to read your fics in the future, as I'm quite intrigued What about me, I'm not that good at writing, but I try to translate short stories/fics in English from time to time
