Er, Torri didn't wear a dress in TLG. Are you thinking of Before I Sleep?

Sparky is on screen. Therefore, it is canon. Elizabeth is still out there. And John WILL bring her home.

Word. Damn, I wish Torri and Rachel had gotten their wish to have a scene with Teyla teaching Elizabeth to fight with the bantos rods. That would've been awesome.

I was thinking about this today. And kind of thinking about some different things I would have liked to have seen in episodes for Elizabeth. This would be one of them. Maybe not even fighting with bantos rods - just basic self-defense. Elizabeth could teach Teyla yoga (this came from learning that Torri is into yoga, and I can imagine yoga being something that Teyla would be very interested in), and Teyla could teach Elizabeth self-defense. It would just have to have been a few scenes at the beginning and/or end of the episodes, like how they did with Ronon & Teyla in Echoes, or with Ronon attempting to teach Rodney in Vengeance.

We definitely needed to see more of those kinds of quiet, character-building moments outside of life-or-death situations, especially for Elizabeth and Teyla. They were supposed to be friends, but we hardly ever got to see it.

By the way, there's a new topic on Weir's greatest achievement y'all might be interested in.

I'm watching it - not yet ready to jump in though.

Here's a couple more thoughts for this thread -

1)There's a series of threads in the Stargate Movies forum, regarding character-centric movies. Right now there's ones for hypothetical movies based around Jack (which is actually probably the 3rd movie - so not so much hypothetical), Daniel, Vala, and Sam.

I'm not up to starting a thread, but I was thinking about an Elizabeth-centered movie. I know the chances of us getting another SGA movie are miniscule, but I would love to see a movie written around Elizabeth (and the team of course). The show will just never be right for me without her, and I would absolutely love to have a movie written around finding her and bringing her home.

              2) I was also thinking today about what BW reportedly said about Elizabeth a long time ago, that if he had his way she would never pick up a gun.

Actually, I think it would have been interesting to have an episode written to put Elizabeth into a situation where she was forced to pick up a gun, where she had to kill someone, either to save her own life or someone else's. And I'm not talking about through possession, like in TLG.

Say she is on a diplomatic trip with the team, and they get captured and tortured. She has the chance to save them, but she has to kill someone to do it. It would be interesting to see how that played out, and how it would affect her and her relationships with the team.

A movie for Weir would be nice. I remember if season 6 for SGA were to happen, Sheppard going after Elizabeth was a potential story. Getting Ms. Higginson to do the movie is up there with another Atlantis movie. Maybe if it was really good they could get her to come back.

I like your second point. It would be cool to see.

I agree, a Weir-centric movie about finding her and bringing her home would be wonderful, and it's long overdue. Given what Torri has said publicly about the GitM fiasco, it sounds like the producers need to come up with a decent ending for the storyline before Torri would consider doing it. For me, that's kind of the silver lining in the decision to move SGA from weekly series to movie format; the movie format will force the producers and writers to come up with a self-contained story with a conclusive ending and prevent them from dragging it out any longer.

Killdeer, I also really like your second point about putting Weir into a situation where she'd have to pick up a gun and actually use it to defend herself or someone else. Stories that push characters out of their comfort zones in such a way are a great opportunity to let actors stretch their acting muscles, and this would fit the bill nicely.

Yeah. I don't know if they would ever do it, but....in my mind that's how the story ends. With Elizabeth back on Atlantis (which is back in Pegasus), on her balcony, with her team around her. I don't even need her to be back in charge - just home again.

You and me both. In fact, I think I'd prefer that she not take back her old job as expedition commander, even if (perhaps especially if) the IOA went crawling to her on their hands and knees and begged her. I always thought the character's potential was wasted being stuck behind a desk, and I'd rather see her out in the field with Sheppard's team, using her mad diplomat/linguist skillz. Just imagine her running circles around the Coalition (from Inquisition)!

I agree. It would've been nice to see that or any kind of female friendship bonding on screen. More than the hint of one from Sunday.

Yeah, GitM really rubbed me the wrong way. The acting was great, the story to me was something Weir wouldn't do. Yeah, just have Weir on Atlantis and not in charge. Though I don't think she could be a member of Shep's team. She doesn't have the skill set for a recon/fire team assault group. She could head up a diplomatic SG team though. And I hear the shippers squee with delight without the whole super-subordinate conflict between Liz and Shep.

That would have been great fodder for a story, 'shippy' or not. Having Elizabeth have to take direct orders from John could have returned us a little to the "Hot Zone" conflict. I think John ended up being okay with playing pseudo-subordinate to Elizabeth, but Elizabeth would have had a harder time taking them from him, I think.

The ship comment was just pointing out it would be easier to do because their equals. Maybe the good old Shep's team escorts Weir's diplomatic team and things go bad would be nice. I think in the right situation, Elizabeth would have no problems taking orders from John. Something like, "Pick up a gun and kill some bad guys or we're dead," type thing. And yes, Elizabeth with guns is really hot. (Use the link below)
