Say no to Bedfordshire!!
Eat chocolate or drink coffee.. write girl, write!!!
But I must get up early! And chocolate will make my jeans too tight, and I don't drink coffee and if I write when I'm, y'know, actually awake you'll get quality work instead of crap!
And uh... drifting far afield now so... SAY NO TO KIRKING! (Close enough to on topic? )
Actually, to be somewhat on topic, I didn't mind (Collateral Damage)
Spoiler:
Mitchell's fling this week because she did inadvertently serve as a vehicle for us to learn more about him. I'm willing to give this one the benefit of the doubt, 'cause without him sleeping with her we wouldn't have gotten jealous ex killing her or a chance to delve into Mitchell's memories and see more about what makes him tick. But if they do it again... well, let's face it. TPTB don't exactly have a great track record with this.
Plus, I just liked this episode 'cause I liked the development of Mitchell/Carter friendship - but that's another topic entirely.
~La (I used to be a lurker, but this place just sucks you in...) The Nameless Forest. Also, my LJ, where you can find my fic attempts.
At least they didn't waste time with an acutal sex scene, but limited it to a quick kiss and left it to our imaginations.
Spoiler:
In Epiphany he was left for 6 months, a very long time in which he'd thought his friends had abandoned him. My biggest complaint to the whole thing is just like everyone said, Teer just felt poorly developed. There could've been alot more to that character and maybe if they'd flushed out the relationship, it wouldn't have matter so much.
But you've gotta love Rodney's line at the end. "WHAT IS IT WITH YOU AND ANCIENT WOMEN!"
Not sure about Mitchell yet. (But I love the character so we'll just have to wait and see if it happens again.
I agree La. It's different if you actually get something out of it.
Spoiler:
The only thing I got out of John's fling with Teer was that he had abandonment issues. Actually, now that I think of it, I don't even thing that's what we got out of him and Teer. So his fling was absoultely pointless. And Teer said that John would kill the beast. He didn't do anything, (encouraged them to fight it but...) it was Teer and her people. And they already knew that they were the only ones who would be able to destroy it so it's possible that he may have been using him. -headdesk-
And one of the things that I hated about Epiphany was that he asked if they "do it"! -headdesk- Please correct me if anything here is wrong because I'm praying that I am. I love John and would hate him to see him like that all/most of the time.
Anyone mind if I join in the discussion? I watched both SG-1 and Atlantis last night. I have to say two Kirking episodes in a row was just wrong! I had chosen to ignore the whole Kirk thing until now.
SG-1's episode just made me mad.
Spoiler:
Mitchell just went off with this woman WITHOUT telling his teammates. On an alien world! I tell ya those SSs are powerful! To add to it Sam didn't even seem upset about it! If Jack were still in charge he woulda yelled at him so bad... Of course O'Neill has done his fair share of Kirking.
Atlantis just disapointed me.
Spoiler:
Yes, he had thought that his teammates had forgotten him. But when he gets evidence that they DIDN'T he just leaves it on the bed to go sleep with the SS!
I just had to add my opinion that this is getting majorly out of hand. Plus neither of the women were that nice looking!
Wandering off without telling his teammates? That's just terrible. Then there was all the drinking on a mission and everything else. And they're supposed to have a frigging air force advisor on set!!!!!
Oh, have they dragged Mitchell into kirking now too? Well, I guess it was to be expected... Young, handsome, single... *sigh* But once isn't really kirking, right? *getting hopes up*
I hope they don't cancel the shows because of our critiqe. The networks could encourage TPTB to write better instead. And our involvement here doesn't mean we'll stop watch the show, does it? (I woun't but my rating doesn't show) I'll keep watching for quite some time, hoping it gets better. And it usually does towards the end of the season when the overall story is picked up again...
Jackson: Earth minutes?
Mitchell: Yeah, I've always wanted to say that.
Vala: Well, now you have.

Yes, and our voices says less or no kirking but keep the shows running. For a long time... Right Ladies and Gents?
And y'all see in my sig what I think of Mitchell and Sheppard, but kirking doesn't suit them. But maybe some of the kirking is the fault of the resetbutton?

Aren’t the networks the type of people that actually like these kinds of scripts? I mean it pretty much permeates every show on TV. I would say Stargate has more network influence now then they ever did (back when they didn’t pimp out their characters for presumed ratings).
But once is not Kirking so lets hope it was simply a plot ploy and we will not see it again. Now if we can just get them to quit messing with Sheps character.
Joseph Mallozzi -"In the meantime, I'm into season 5 of OZ (where the show takes an unfortunate hairpin turn into "the not so wonderful world of fantasy")"
^^^ Kinda sounds like seasons 9 and 10 of SG-1 to me. Thor, ya got Aspirin?
AGateFan has officially Gone Fishin (with Jack, Sam, Daniel, Teal'c) and is hoping Atlantis does not take that same hairpin turn.
I think I should start a new thread called "Shippers against priest syndrome".
"Priest syndrome" is something I just made up in which characters display so little interest in sex or having relationships that they might as well be priests. They may occasionally have a relationship, but it seems like once a decade. It's not normal.
Stargate is full of characters like this. It needs more characters who aren't.

Taking me back to the resetbutton. Not even mentioning the "hot alien chick of last week" is what makes it kirking. Kissing and forgetting is what we are against not romance and relationships (even sex). Or is that just me..?
Yes, priest syndrome isn't normal, thats why I don't consider Sheps actions in Epiphany kirking.

I'm not wild about the kirking of Sheppard, but I can tolerate the occasional (as in once or twice a season) fling. It's been a little too frequent lately, but I don't think it's unreasonable for any of the characters to indulge in an affair now and then (never mind that John is the only one, practically, who ever gets any...) What I dislike even more than the actual kirking is these females he's paired with. John is a lively, interesting guy, and these women are so colorless and insipid, I can't imagine John falling for any of them. They make the too-stereotyped Liz and Teyla seem more interesting in comparison (maybe that's the point?). If John's going to keep having these dalliances, for god's sake, at least inject some personality into these creatures he's paired with.

And better age. And better done than in the Tower. And please let the others have some. And take away the resetbutton... Hmm, maybe better posted in the request for next season thread.
