    Creating the full Atlantis Blueprints

    Hello!

I just looked in the whole forum for such a topic, and didn't find anything approaching my idea. I have the project to create the most precise and complete BLUEPRINTS for the City of Atlantis, in the perspective of maybe creating the city of Atlantis (or a part of it at least) under the UDK (Unreal Developement Kit, a 3D game modelling programm). For the moment, I am only working on the blueprints, modelling part of the city will be a next step, but later I suppose.

I am certainly aware that this won't be easy, for the simple reason that for what I know the producers themselves didn't have a clue of how the whole city had to be. We have the exterior scenes of the city, throughout the series, and some rooms have been seen on screen, but there was no real map of the city that was created by and for the producers.

Here are some images of maps I have found so far:

    http://www.gateworld.net/gallery/alb...l_310_1468.JPG
    http://www.stargate-fusion.com/atlan...te_reel_vf.gif

    http://www.stargatehub.com/sgawidget...s/gateroom.jpg

As you can see, I have 3 maps of the whole city, but all three are different.
I would say the 3rd is totally wrong; I have read comments saying it could be the map of what was undersea, but for what we have seen when Atlantis went into hyperspace, no pier is linked to another...

Ok, on this picture we have something really different, so what now?!?
    http://images3.wikia.nocookie.net/__...notherView.jpg

    NOW TO BEGIN:
I want to start by creating blueprints of the Central Spire, or Control Tower. For what I know, we can find there:
    - The jumper bay:
    http://images4.wikia.nocookie.net/__...1215465457.jpg
    - The famous Control Room, Gateroom, Conference Room and Commander's office.
(see blueprint above, + this: )
    http://images1.wikia.nocookie.net/__...1215465323.jpg
    - The room McKay uses as his personal lab.
    - The Main Power room
    - The ZPM Room (At the base of the tower)
    - The Main Power Room

    and probably:
    - The Infirmary
    - Some living Quarters ?

How where those different places located exactly? What do you know or think?
All help is welcome! I will share my work with you, while my work will progress.

Really nice work so far! Thanks. But do you really think it is so heigh? I mean, look at the map of the gateroom &Co, and watch the distance between the balcony and the Window behind the Gate. Now compared to pictures of the tower like that one:http://www.gateworld.net/gallery/alb..._PDVD_2842.JPG
I have read many different sizes, often calculated between 600 and 800 meters, but for exemple that picture doesn't seem to make it so big... Dunno! I will check different sites where they calculated, and try to find it better out... But (in perspective of one day creating it on the UDK) I want to see if it is really so big.

Ummm in "The Prodigal" we know that there are at least 67 levels.

Ok... So it is really bigger than I thought... Well, my friends and I will spend a looooong time creating all of that...
Thank you for your help. I will come on "your" topic to get on with the work.

Would be nice to have the actual 3d models from the show, since it's over now. I wonder with what modeling tool they did it? Probably 3ds??

Probably an in-house program, or a variant of a commercial product.

For the first season at least, they said they used Lightwave in modeling and Maya for the water simulation, when the visual effects team did that piece about the effects in The Eye.

And btw the two main models used are the Rainmaker one, used primarily in the first season, and the Atmosphere model, used from the second season onwards. Here's a list of differences between them. Scroll down to see

However there's no official model of the city per se.

In several of those pics when its ON The ocean, you can clearly see 2 piers linked to one another. BUT In all the pics i've seen when it goes airborn/space wise, you don't see any piers linked? I wonder why that is??

I don't think they are, but that doesn't mean no one should continue the project in some other way.

Plenty of people who know their way around CAD, 3D, modelling programs.

I didnt read all the posts here, but I already have one 3D model of atlantis - made a real models from if from 9cm to 35cm and fully lighted one. However there is one irregularity, on very few computer diagrams that are running on Atalntis expedition notebooks (even in very first episode) is clear, that all piers are WHOLE. Then when the city rise and also later, you can see one pier is not symmetrical and it looks like cut or most probably damaged and missing a part on the other side.

So there is real question why some of the diagrams and also the city looks different. So far I have version according to the diagram, where all piers are symmetrical and I can say for myself I liked it more. I will be doing very soon a remastering and change some details to be more realsitic. However I will probably dont cut the pier because I dint like it.

But it would be possible to make some blueprints based on the model - later.

Actually in every hyperspace shot all but two piers are linked87B85C94-C7BE-4563-A201-E21E18F53A9F.jpeg
                            CAB71C3F-1EB8-40F2-9818-BC8064D39D94.jpg

The most consistent appearing schematic is mainly in season 1:
                            0A8E2FED-A05D-46F9-820B-75994A0653D5.jpg
Which clearly shows the two sets of connected piers and the two unconnected ones, however this does underplay the gaps.

Again this early shots clearly shows two pairs of links piers in the background.
