Lets build Atlantis!....sort of...

Ive had this idea for a while now...lets build atlantis!
or at least discuss it..

atlantis is approxiamtely 60 square kilometers (yes metric, i am australian), its tallest tower, the control tower, is 69 floors high ("The Prodigal"), there are hundreds of rooms and buildings and it is designed to fly, float and travel through hyperspace.

i know what your thinking, either: 'this guy is crazy and a stargate nerd' (who here isnt), 'i do not care about this' or 'THIS ROCKS!'

of course we couldnt build a hyperdrive...unless any of you know how, transporters, drones, shields, a working stargate, cloaks, puddlejumpers, etc but who knows


.....wat do u think? any ideas? comments? suggestions? complaints? requests to join the Atlantean High Council?

It would take a lot of time and resources. Better to build a fleet of 304's and research upgrades, new ship designs and new ways to build ships.

build a 1:1 replica of Atlantis?
which can not fly and does not have shield...
live on there will be amazing but realistically not possible,
we can however, invest to build a residence/hotel/tourist attraction site like Disney land. by contracting with permanent citizens on board to pay taxes and international hotels to operate the hotel section and of course, sell tickets for visit. also open some sections into entertainment section, casinos, restaurants, movie theaters, gift shops, swimming pools and many others. by using craft similar to V-22 to transport people from mainland to the Atlantis. the only problem will be it will be hard to find investors willing to do it and surely MGM will sue us

Well, I'm from South América, and when you say kilometers I can picture better how huge Atlantis is.

Personally, each time I watch, or remember, "Rising" I'm sad about how Atlantis wasn't used to its full, and right now (with SG1 done, and SGA ending) little is left in this forum for me to stay so, I like the idea.

Are we talking about virtual blue prints? Where the living quarters are? The labs? Things like those? Because the unexplored bits are huge, and IMO filled with so much potential.

i think this would be freeking awsume. I would fund some of this. Also the digital simulation would be great think how much fun it would be to try and explore the great city. Excelent idea

I am American..so when you say kilometers I get a little lost but I heard it was ~ the size of Manhattan island, which is 12 miles long and 2 miles wide. So yes, buildable but still difficult to do so.

technology wise, it is viable today using blocks method proposed by many marine city ship projects, with size of Manhattan the base will be extremely stable and suitable for buildings to build on. however, even the base itself will take more than decades to construct since an aircraft carrier takes 12 years to build... seeking investors will be very difficult, or perhaps it will do better than other projects since it offers way more than a vocation house and it provides more incomes...
