I was thinking of that exact cap. Mckay looks like hes standing on a heliport in Manhattan to me.

That size is just not possible. If it really was that tiny it would be impossible for a ship the size of the Daedalus to find a huge flat area like it did when it landed.

At that size it's not even 1/10th the size of a Wraith hive. It would even nearly fit between the forward prongs of one.

I thought we solved the Deady-landing thing a long time ago? As in, it lands in the water alongside the piers.

                Hi,

From a question I asked Bruce Woloshyn, I thought it could interest you
                to know the answer:

So, here is the real size of Atlantis:

                The city is appox:
1.33 km from north to south
1.24 km from west to east
680 m from top to bottom
320 m from top to the surface of the ocean

                Source: http://board.thescifiworld.net/viewt...hp?p=1771#1771

so there we have it, the real size of Atlantis per Bruce Woloshyn.

Edit: apparently the original message is no longer present, or at least I couldn't find it.

I think that estimate is really small. Not to say thay I'm correct but I based mine on this screen cap from echoes. From the numbers on the screen shot I estimate Atlantis is ~5800M so 5.8K in diameter at its farthest peers.

                  http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f2...scalegood2.jpg

I also scaled the model i'm working on to ~5.8K and put my 450M daedalus class in with it to give you an idea of the sizes.

                  http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f2...lantis5800.jpg

Heres another scaling pic I made to show various SG ships compared to eachother. In this pic atlantis is about 100M smaller but you get the general idea.

Not sure if these help at all but I thought I'd share.

Took the time to scale my model down to the ~1.33K and it is absolutly rediculous to think that atlantis is that small.. I mean look at the 450M 304. From the siege pt 3 we see the daedalus land on the water between the piers. If atlantis is 1.33K the daedalus couldn't even fit anywhere between the piers.

                        Lol @ t3h size.
No surprise though, it's always been the figure I considered valid.

Manhattan... in width, yes, it's correct. In lenght, clearly not.

It doesn't matter what "numbers" people come up with. The simple fact of the matter than anything less than Manhattan-size is just too freakin' small!

This is the Lost City of the Ancients, people! Not the Lost Village, Township, Hamlet, or Farmstead!

Scaling issues aside, I place full blame on the VFX people for not making the city match the dialog, which is "same size as Manhattan". Mr. Mallozzi, when he head a thread on GW, gave the same answer when I asked him.

its diameter is a bit smaller then a mile and it about half a mile high

My estimates have it at approx 1.5 miles in diameter, and approx 1/2 mile high (probably alittle more) from atlantis base to the top of the centre spire.

Hive ship is 2.5 miles long so theres a reference for ya.

                                Aurora-Class Warship is 665m long, 237m wide.
