    Ah

It's pretty well known in SW fandom that when the original Star Wars film was first in development, Luke Skywalker's name was Anakin Starkiller.

        Yes. Yes he did.

I dunno. Going through all of these posts about you finally watching B5 makes me want to finally watch Season 5. I stopped watching the series after Season 4. What can I say? Rising Star really felt like a good ending for the series to me and I thought "well...where could they possibly go after that?".

Hmm. I suppose I'll have to finally watch S5 and find out.

Good show. Once you start, don't let the lacklustre first half turn you off. The 2nd half is the emotional payoff of the entire series.

wow i have come into this thread late lol. as you can tell from my handle I am a little bit of a fan of b5 and it was great too read through this entire thread as yet another person becomes aware of babylon 5.
Agree with you on a lot, although the end of sleeping in light i didn't find depressing, I found it a fitting tribute as the alliance ships escort the crew off the ship as b5 is turned off by it's creator...something thats not been mentioned here...you do know that the person who switches the lights off at the end is actually JMS....was a fitting moment and one that always brings a tear to my eye.
            glad you enjoyed it...

A few years ago I bought the first two seasons because they were on for cheap, I hadn't gotten around to it. I know I know, it's one of the best sci-fi series out there. I really should've learnt not to delay from my waiting to watch Farscape and Firefly. What can I say, I'm a slow learner.

Finally got started just the other day. I'm really enjoying it so far. The pilot was pretty painful to get through, but the regular series has been a lot of fun. Not nearly so painful in its beginning as say ST:TNG was. There was an immediate sense of chemistry between the cast.

The characters are very likeable and gel very well. Londo has pretty great chemistry with anyone he's on-screen with, Vir as well. G'Kar is appropriately annoying and entertaining all the time. I really like Sinclair, it's a shame he's only around for the first season.

Very much looking forward to actual plot-relevant episodes rather than these one-offs, but they are nice on their own
I did the same thing actually. I watched all of Firefly and Farscape before I actually started watching B5. I guess I only have time for one series at a time, but anyhoo I just finished the first season and I liked it. I thought the pilot was quite entertaining and good at setting up future mysteries and establishing the character relations later on. I also found many scenes humorous and relatable, since I've felt like I've been in similar situations in RL before. The comedic timing and lines were brilliantly written.

In the beginning is awesome. ANyone know why it was panned by the critics and ratings??
