The only problem is the Wraith are too specialized for their own good.
Being dependent on one food source can make you quite vulnerable.
Minor note, I read somewhere that the Wraith weren't valuable because they don't appear to have the art, etc. of humans. Besides the fact that it's a completely arrogant statement, there's a concept from my psych. class called Maslow's hierarchy of needs. The idea is that (general rule) that basic needs such as food, water, shelter, have to be met before one can move on to higher levels. If you're starving, the focus will be on food. I believe artistic expression was on the highest level.
According to this, the Wraith don't have fancy artwork, music, etc, because their focus is on not starving. If they had enough sustenance....
Of course, we don't know enough to say that the Wraith have no art either.
