Not on criminal Justice reform. You're in the minority there. Even Trump recognizes that there are excesses that need to be dealt with.

    How so?

That's not the attitude of most in the U.S., and that is why Sanders just committed political suicide with his remarks.

I said there are issues with our criminal justice system, did I not? Excess force in some cases, for example.

But how many people who are as guilty as the day is long get off due to tiny technical loopholes and such? Let alone egregious situations like the O.J. Simpson case? While this involves the civil courts as well, that should have never happened. 1: He shouldn't have been found not guilty, but 2: since he was, they shouldn't have been able to go after him in civil court.

As far as "How do I know" ? Sanders is advocating attacking the Criminal Justice System, and wants to release a large number of criminals. It's not rocket science to see that that's not going to be popular in in the mainstream.

He's not attacking the "justice system" per se, he's attacking things like 3 strikes, which leans more towards the punishment side.
Would you sentence and pay for someone who has shoplifted 3 times to life?
                Smoked 3 joints?
A vast amount of "lifers" are in for such things.

It's not rocket science to work out that your view of mainstream is..... Questionable.

I'm just happy they pulled out of the oil sands business in Alberta. And I can't wait until they stop harvesting this insanely polluting resource, which should be soon considering the price of an oil sand barrel is getting less competitive every day.

Koch Industries' oil sands subsidiary in Canada, Koch Oil Sands Operating (KOSO), wants to get out of its oil sands project in the Muskwa region in the province of Alberta, citing economic and regulatory uncertainties.

                      Spoiler:
I don’t want to be human. I want to see gamma rays, I want to hear X-rays, and I want to smell dark matter. Do you see the absurdity of what I am? I can’t even express these things properly, because I have to—I have to conceptualize complex ideas in this stupid, limiting spoken language, but I know I want to reach out with something other than these prehensile paws, and feel the solar wind of a supernova flowing over me. I’m a machine, and I can know much more.

Koch is basically everything that the neocons accuse Soros of (magnified by 10 just like he's 10x richer than Soros)

and the DNC never point it out cause they're too stupid
and the media like CNN CBS MSNBC etc. never mention it either (cause in truth they too work for the GOP - something the DNC never points out either cause again they're too stupid)

Well you can't really talk crap about a conglomerate that owns a big chunk of your GDP, donations and voters.

Only Bernie is immune from such constraints, like when he went to Joe Rogan' show or Fox to talk about freedoms and reforms.

We also have a system that splashes information of the accused all over the place permanently tainting their reputation without a care if they are actually innocent. We have a system that punishes the poor by levying hefty court fees. We have a system where the prosecution can pile multiple counts that they know won't stick but will, in the process, slow down the defense making their ability to defend you even harder in the hopes that they'll either mess up, or go for a deal even if you are innocent (which happens a lot). We have a system where bail hearings are simply formalities in some states and in reality it is up to the prosecution to decide if you get out or not. We also have a system that has sent nearly 200 innocent people to death row (that is, nearly 200 people whose innocence has been proven and saved from death, God knows how many more there are...or were). We have a system where five young men in New York were accused and convicted of raping and killing a lady in Central Park with shotty evidence only for the actual killer to confess years later (And a president who still insists that they are guilty).

We have a court system that throws people into jail for having a very small amount of marijuana for personal use for at least 5 years in the same place where there are rapists, murderers, gangsters, serial killers, and so on and treat them the exact same way...over an ounce of grass they get treated like the worst. Even worse, because its the poorer communities that get policed the most, it's mostly the poor who try to escape from their miserable lives with a small amount of weed that get this treatment while all the potheads in suburbia get away with it to egregious amounts because the cops barely bother them at all.

I could go on...but you didn't answer my question at all.

And those technicalities have saved countless law abiding Americans from being wrongfully convicted...without them we'd see even more people wrongfully sentenced to death row. I'm willing to bet that the number of innocent people that are saved by technicalities is far greater than the number of OJ type situations. Not to mention, that those technicalities provide an incentive to prevent government abuse. I'd say they are worth the risk.

That's not what I asked. I asked how do you know that the majority believe one way or another. How do you know any of what you claimed in the last two paragraphs of your post. What you said here doesn't answer what I asked at all. How do you know? What do you have to base it on? Feelings? I want logic, numbers, facts. Not feelings.

From your paragraph on the technicalities, you seem to be aware that while our justice system is not perfect, it is better than most.

Yes, it is harder on the poor. But what isn't? Money can buy the way out of almost every problem that arises, not just legal problems.

Regarding the punishments for using weed, wouldn't that be a legislative issue? Is pot legal or illegal, and what are the penalties? These are all issues for the lawmakers, not the criminal justice system.

Also, perhaps the usage is different? In urban areas, people get high, and then go hang out in public, on streetcorners, etc. where the contact with the police is initially regarding some other behavior issue, and the weed is found on them as well, while the suburban user gets high and goes and parks himself on the couch or some other place in his home, not bothering anyone else.

As far as Sanders committing political suicide, he is playing to the far left and very young, just like most of the socialists in the Dem party as of late. But his idea that a 16 year old who commits murder or something else shouldn't be held responsible isn't gonna fly with the older and more stable portion of the population, which is far larger, even among Democrats.
