A way past the Drones? [spolier for gauntlet]

Okay, from the sneak peak we see that the Drones are blockading all the stargates left in this galaxy. So, why stay in this Galaxy? Their tanks are as full as they can get push out of the plane of the ecliptic and head for another Galaxy. Fill up again work on food and water then head back, by the most direct path possible to Destiny's orginal course.

That assumes they have the food and water supplies to get that far.

Maybe Destiny needs to refuel again at the edge of the galaxy before it can proceed to the next one. The drones would probably prevent that attempt.

        Morbo,

Freeze most of the crew during the sidetrip.

        Rylor,

In the last intergalactic transit they didn't. So head for the galaxy nearest to the new course outside of he plane of the ecliptic.

in Sabotage Destiny refuelled at the last possible system to make the final jump

besides we don't know where the nearest galaxy is. it could be too far.

Since they can control Destiny they can simple stay in orbit of a planet like Novus. Collect food, water.

the edge is probably still far away, and even if they make it there on 1 tank of gas, they are going to have to refuel as close to the edge as possible. Destiny barely made the last few intergalactic jumps.

This actually has insane time skip story writing potential. Crew goes into stasis and Destiny starts a low power drift past the heaviest drone activity. It would never be done but the potential for storytelling is hilarious. Crew wakes up 50 million years later. What would Earth and the entire Milky Way be like? Would Destiny's crew be the last humans left in the universe?

You're thinking two dimensionally. Rather than only move on the X/Y axis they start the jump to an new Galaxy on the Z axis. Heading "Up" to the nearest Galaxy that is above the current Galaxy's ecliptic plain.

but what if the closest galaxy is further than Destiny can travel without drifting 2000 years? regardless of orientation?

Going off of Destiny's beaten path runs the very real risk of ending up in a galaxy without any Stargates...effectively cutting off most of their means of gathering supplies.

If we assume for a moment that Destiny heads "up" until it's out of the galactic plane then heads towards the galaxy Destiny already planned on going to...then they run the risk of running out of enough power to fuel the FTL drive...even if all other systems are shut down, they are still flying "high" enough to leave the plane, the remaining length of the galaxy and the distance between this galaxy and the next, all without any chances to refuel.

Fair enough, they don't need to go to the horizontal edge. But another galaxy is not necessarily closer from such an angle.

However it just struck me that it will also depend on how the seedships travelled. What if the seedships followed a relatively horizontal route. If they go to another galaxy by travelling vertically they will probably encounter a galaxy without gates, making travel extremely difficult, because they won't know where the planets and stars exactly are, or which are habitable.

Skeleton crew or freeze everyone with a preprogramed flight path. Let Destiny drift to a star that it can refuel from. Instead of devoting energy to life support it can devote energy to the stasis pods.

See above. That's why they should use the Statsis pods.

What Destiny needs is a good old fashioned decoy. Something that looks big and juicy enough to draw off all the drones.

They can't just arbitrarily pick a new galaxy to go to. The seed ships are going in one direction. There would be no gates, no plotted path, nothing to guide them. They have no choice but to follow the seed ships, and that means going past the drones.
