    Sam Worthington Talks Green Lantern

ComingSoon.net talked to Terminator Salvation and Avatar star Sam Worthington about possibly starring in the Martin Campbell-directed Green Lantern.

"I've been talking to (director) Martin Campbell about it," Worthington said when asked if he had been approached about the role. "It's one of those things where they're still doing the script. I said, 'Give me a script. Let me have a look at it.' I like Martin a lot. I met him on the Bond stuff, and I like his work, but the second step is, 'Is it a movie that I'd go and see?'"

Writer reveals Green Lantern movie's progress and a few hints

Screenwriter Marc Guggenheim told SCI FI Wire exclusively that he has just completed a new draft of a proposed live-action Green Lantern movie, based on a script by him, Michael Green and Greg Berlanti.

"In fact, I'm ... delivering another draft today," Guggenheim (TV's Flash Forward) said in an exclusive interview on Friday. "So it continues to move forward."

The film is expected to be directed by Martin Campbell, who stepped in for Berlanti, and is slated to begin production at Australia's Fox Studios in Sydney this summer for a release on June 17, 2011.

Guggenheim confirmed that his script will focus on Hal Jordan, based on the Silver Age DC Comics incarnation of the superhero, and how he became a member of the Green Lantern Corps.

Beyond that, Guggenheim remained tight-lipped. "You know I really can't [say anything]," he said. "I've sworn a blood oath of secrecy in relation to the project. But, you know, the thing I can tell you is that it is a very loving and respectful approach."

"Green Lantern" Will Feature A Lantern Created Just For The Movie!

Marc Guggenheim is co-writing the screenplay for the live-action “Green Lantern” movie and although he didnt give anything away concerning casting or specific plot points, he did say some very interesting things to MTV...

According to Guggenheim, the script has been in a constant state of revisions since “Casino Royale” director Martin Campbell was tagged to helm the project.

“It’s basically the exercise of changing the movie from being just a script that people are reading to being a script that people will actually shoot, perform and produce,” said the writer of the recent flurry of revisions.

He also asks fans not to be too dismissive of whoever does get to wear the Lanterns ring in the movie...

“It’s always particularly funny when there’s a rumor that goes around and I’m like, ‘I know that can’t be true because that actor’s schedule doesn’t permit them to do the movie in our time frame,’ or any number of other things,” said the writer. “But I’m a very big believer that in acting, people can surprise you. People you didn’t necessarily think were the right choice on paper can be the absolute right choice.”

“When Heath Ledger was first announced as the Joker that wasn’t the obvious right choice, but now that everyone has seen ‘The Dark Knight,’ can any of us imagine someone else in that role?”

Probably the biggest reveal is that a new Green Lantern was created specifically for the movie. I cant see this decision being too popular with the fans, but...

“One of our rules has been: ‘Don’t create a new Lantern when a pre-existing one from the comic books would work just as well,’” he said. “There’s only one Lantern who we’ve decided to completely create from scratch, but there’s a very specific reason why we’ve made that decision.”

Is Superman Appearing In The Live Action Green Lantern Movie?

Last year SplashpageMTV caught up with Co Writer Marc Guggenheim, who made the comment that Superman might have a cameo in the upcoming live action Green Lantern Movie. Fast forward to this year. MTV caught up with the Co Writer again to ask him about his comments regarding a cameo in Green Lantern by none other then The Man Of Steel and any other Heroes in D.C. Universe.

“Honestly, it changes on a daily basis. Whatever information I gave you today would be obsolete in a week, and maybe come back again in two weeks,” states Guggenheim.” And even if it wasn't in flux at the script stage, it would still be constantly in flux because you can film it, put it in the original cut, and eventually it could end up on the editing room floor.”

Marc Guggenheim goes on to say:

“I will say, all the Easter Eggs and the cameos that I put in, I couldn't even begin to predict at this point which ones will stay and which ones will go,” he said. “I'll be as interested as anyone else to see what we end up keeping and losing by the time the picture is actually locked… and that’s pretty far away from now.”

                    Never going to happen!!

Green Lantern,IMHO, is supposed appeal to the young male (12-35) demographic, not 12 year old girls. So, I think we're safe.

Out of the three they had narrowed it down to Reynolds is nto a bad choice but not the one I would have picked either. I am just glad that it is Timberlake. GL is my all time favorite fictional character and I cant wait to see what they do with him. Reynolds has the ability to do the job I just hope that WB doesnt screw things up to much. From what I have heard abou tthe script it realy has potential. I think Brad Cooper looks more like Hal but again: at least it isnt Timberlake. I think if they treat this movie like Marvel did Ironman and have a nice mix of action, drama and funny then it will be a great movie. But if the powers that be at WB start trying to reinvent the wheel like they have before then it could be a disaster.

Is that where all the Nathan Fillion talk came from? I had been reading all kinds of comments from people saying "I was kinda hoping Nathan Fillion would get it" and I couldn't for the life of me understand how anybody would think that's a good fit.
