May I suggest that if anything I say is unclear, please ask me to clarify without the attitude. First, I was raised with a severely disabled foster sister and it makes me sick to think about using a slur that is frequently aimed at people with physical and intellectual disabilities. Second, google the phrase "how many angels can dance on the head of a pin" and see if what I said (admittedly in an inelegant manner) makes more sense.

Sorry, but I find your narrowing definition of rape rather tendentious. I just think this is fairly typical of much of the discussion I've read around this episode. It's been interesting watching people almost - but not quite - make the bald statement that (yes) "Gina can be raped by every rational definition of the term. Thorne and his pack knew it when she struggled, and screamed and begged him to stop. Cain knew it. AND THEY DON'T FRACKING CARE, AND NEITHER DO I."

Having googled the question it is clear that it is a rhetorical question full of useless presupposition. In regard to the 'attitude' perhaps you should impartially revisit your post and see where the attitude started.

It is not my definition. It is a definition laid out by Parliament and supported by countless judges in the jurisdiction of England & Wales, which I happen to totally agree with. I didn't want to continue this topic, but let me unequivocally state we have an ideological difference. I see the human looking cylons as machines whereas you appear to regard them as humans. I have used facts based on the Galactica universe to support my arguments, but others seem to draw analogies from human relationships. Those analogies are totally unhelpful in looking at the real issue. It is like comparing the oratory ability of Adolf Hitler to George W. Bush. Hitler, although a fascist, was a fantastic orator, whereas it would be better if Bush read before he spoke.

Humanity is almost extinct. If it comes to a choice between humanity and the cylons, I would choose humanity everytime, and make no apology for it.

But I would be interested to know how far your beliefs go? Could Thorne rape a centurion in your opinion? Or do you discriminate against the centurion. I would remind you that when the war between humanity and the cylons first started there were no human looking cylons. So if you attribute sentience to the human looking cylons, then that sentience didn't start with them but was the product of an earlier class of machine.

In Regard to Cain not respecting Roslin right away if you remember back to the early part of the series everyone more or less thought having the sec. of education as president was a stupid idea.

It wasn't until Roslin proved herself to be a compotent leader that they started to respect her.

Cain was at the same initial "secretary of education, you're kidding me right?" stage when she met Roslin.

I'm also in the "I don't feel sorry for the Cylon/Gina camp" the key thing to remember here is that she was counting on them killing her so she could get a free ticket out of all the things she did to them via rebirth. She'd just die and get ressurected and go on happily killling more humans, mission accomplished as planned. If she was really stupid she might have even taunted them with this fact when they caught her. I can't really hold it against Cain, or whoever it was, for coming up with a way to punish her for killing 7 men that didn't amount to essentially nothing.

At that point there was no way to perma-kill a Cylon so if you caught one torturing it was the only thing you could really do to "hurt" it back in any real way.

don't forget this is from our view, there view maybe different as we havn't lost tens of billions of humans have we by the cylons.

I just finished watching the first half of Season-2 on DVD.
I already read all the episode highlights from the second
half of Season-2 which aired on SciFi channel Jan-Mar'06.
(cable is too expensive here, so I rent from Blockbuster)

I just have one question that keeps bothering me.

I buy the "blind jump" Kain used to escape from
the Cylons, but what I don't understand is how
The Pegasus and their fighters continue to engage
the Cylons when supposedly the Cylons can infiltrate
all networked computers with viruses and disable them.

The whole reason Galactica "escaped" the Cylons was
their Battlestar was such an old museum ship that the
Cylons could not hack it or it's old fighters. So how
does this explain how the Pegasus gets away with it now?

When they show Kain in her quarters, and the CIC of the
Pegasus, they're all brimming with multiple computer screens
and far fewer personnel even though the ship is double the
size of Galactica, while the Galactica's bridge looks like
an old Carrier during the Vietnam War!

Wow. Didnt think there was anyone left in the fleet, let alone a new BattleStar.

I can buy the blind jump, but like others have mentioned, this does not explain why the Pegasus wasnt destroyed on their next contact with the Cylons due to the networking of computers, new fighters, systems, etc.

I didnt like what they did to the Six on Pegasus. And i was bloody angry at that Pegasus officer for attempting to 'rape' Sharon. Machine or not, thats not on imo, and certainly isnt a tool to get info off the enemy. Im glad Helo and Tyrol got to him...

Loved how Commander Adama stood up for his men, and was willing to fight the Pegasus to get them.
Science Fiction is an existential metaphor; it allows us to tell stories about the human condition.

Isaac Asimov once said individual science fiction stories may seem as trivial as ever to the blinder critics and philosophers of today, but the core of science fiction, its essence has become crucial to our salvation if we are to be saved at all.

Lt. Geata's - "Got any porn?" had me in stitches.

Long before you and I were born, others beat these benches with their empty cups,
To the night and its stars, to the here and now with who we are.

Another sunrise with my sad captains, with who I choose to lose my mind,
And if it's all we only pass this way but once, what a perfect waste of time.

It was the way he looked both ways to make sure no one else was in earshot that set me off.

                              and it would have worked.

what a great beginning the best feel good moment of ther series. peggy is everything there ever wanted and it's run by a ass

This episode made me cry. I felt so badly for Shanon and the abused Six.
