The Cylons have an interesting hierarchy. The Notorious Seven like to think they're at the top and they've designed the centurions not to question them, but then... the Final Five are apparently a step above them and they aren't allowed to question that.

Makes me wonder what those mystery figures are like.

Apparantly RDM wanted to go with "Flying Toaster" but After Dark threatened to sue ;-)

Haven't you guys heard of greek mythology ?

Athena was the daughter of Zeus... Zeus was also father to twins Apollo and Artemise (whose attributes pretty much match Starbuck's character...).

It seems to look like each and every Lord of Kobol is one of the 12 major ancient Greek gods (Zeus, Apollo, Artemise, Hermes, Aphrodites, Hera, Athena, Poseidon, Ares, Dionysos, Hades, Hephaistos). What if the 12 cylon models were reincarnations of the 12 lords of Kobol ?
That doesn't explain why Tom Zarek insisted on calling Adama "Zeus" (twice, can't be a coincidence), I know... Or maybe these "reincarnations" were spread among humans and cylons by this great god toasters always talk about...

I don't know, that occurred to me today while watching this ep. and we Europeans are very fond of mythology...

(Also I'm not a native english and my english is a bit rusty, so pleaaaaase, don't be too hard on me ! )

I'm confused by people saying that the virus or whatever was left on the beacon on purpose by the 13th tribe to keep the cylons from following them. According to what has been said in the series, the colonials migrated from Kobol 2000 years ago, it was never said when the 13th tribe went to earth but it had to have been before the colonials left kobol, how else would their scripture give clues on how to find Earth? As far as we know, the colonials created the cylons in the past 100 years or so, the rebelled and the war ended 40 years ago.

Now we do have 6's saying, that all of this has happened before and all of it has happened again but that could just mean that humans have enslaved people before and they rebelled. The cylons certainly seem to know more of the colonials history and religion than the colonials do.

Plus as far as we know, biolons have not existed except in the past 40 years after the first cylon war when they rebelled. So why would the 13th tribe leave a beacon behind that would infect biolons?

Now I suppose if we were to believe that that biolons are modeled after the 12 lords of Kobol, using their genetic material, we could make the connection that the lords of Kobol enslaved humanity, they rebelled and left and the virus on the beacon was designed to stop the Lords of Kobol from following. But that theory has problems too, why would the colonials worship the Lords of Kobol if they had been enslaved by them? That wouldn't make sense.

Hopefully we learn a little more in the coming episodes about it.

I'm not too sure I agree with the theory, but it could be that the 13th tribe went a different way to live a new life without worshiping the 12 Lords. Still, aren't the Colonials also descended from the Lords? If so, then that theory goes out the window since they would likely possess the same genetic vulnerabilities that make the Cylons susceptible to the virus.

                Here's a thought:
It need not be a bio-weapon at all. Cross-species infection is no joke, people. The humans and the Cylons have had no issues with it thus far because they've all had the same pool of diseases. Bring a totally foreign disease into the mix, and nobody has any immunity to it. The humans are incredibly lucky that it only the Cylons can apparently be infected by this one - it could have just as easily been the other way around. A few microbes on the hull of an alien probe could be far more effective a weapon in an interstellar than any amount of guns or missiles.

we dont know who left hte virus. the only real info we have to go on is the supposition that it looks human, 'our' humans didn't do it and the impression that 'it's been there for a while'

which suggests that the 13th tribe coulda done it. On the other hand, it HAS been a year since the attack. ANd just cause most of the humans around the 12 colonies are in the fleet, doesn't necessarily mean that ALL of the survivors are in Adama and Roslyn's group

for all we know, this might not be the 13th tribe but maybe other survivors that are out there that may or may not know that they're not alone

Ok guys, the theory about the 13th colony leaving after cylon war came from the mini-series. At some point in the mini series they mentioned that the 13th colony went away after the cylon war (I might be wrong though cause it was long time ago) About the infected beacon, they have talked about the other 5 human cylons that it might not be with them anymore and they went on in their search for the human gods so I just said they were following the trail left by the 13th colony and left a virus in the beacon cause they knew other cylons could bring more tragedy to human kind (just especualtion)

Anyway, it is always nice to hear so many different theories cause that mean the series is back on again

                    Regards,

                    RG

But if they did leave after the Cylon war which was 40 years, why are they mentioned in the scriptors. Which are thousands of years old.

. The human cylons and the base ships are made from the same material. But I have a question how did the fleet know about the 2nd resurrection ship??

They didn't - the 13th colony split off after the original exodus from Kobol.

Probably saw it in orbit with the basestars above NC during the exodus. Certainly Kara knew that Leoben was resurrecting on a regular basis.

Well i believe that the 13th colony left the canister to infect anyone who was not human or it oculd be that they do not want to be followed by anyone so the virus would kill anything it came in contact with. They knew that thier journy was chronicled and maybe they want to be left alone i mean they did leave Kobol and go off without the other 12 tribes they mite not actually want to be found.

Can we say "radiation" children? I knew we could.

The probe/whatever (even I was looking for "Pioneer" or "Voyager") could have been absorbing radiation for centuries and released it and that could be killing the cylons.

Or the housing for its powersource is cracked. Again, radiation poisoning.

Athena? Athena was Adama's daughter, not some chromy. Once again, this proves the series is BINO. Battlestar In Name Only.

If you want to watch Glen A. Larson's Battlestar Galactica, you're watching the wrong show. There are DVDs out there for you to watch in complete and utter bliss. I honestly don't know how else to respond to the people who cry GINO or BINO or whatever new "witty" title people like that use for the show. RDM's take on Galactica has grown beyond the initial concept, and should be viewed as such.

I'm not so sure that the device is emitting radiation. Take a look around the ship, and you'll see there's something organic all over. It almost reminds me of the fungus from Super Mario Brothers (gawd, I still can't believe I actually watched that movie). Whatever is infecting that baseship is alive, and spreading.
