Two big ones for me are in End of Nights, when she gives Tesla the vial of Ashley's unchanged blood and when she can't pull the trigger on Ashley at the end. I think the first shows how far she's willing to go for her work and her ideals, it's kinda the extreme height of her heroism in a way in that she's choosing the greater good over her own personal desire. But then the second I think shows the depth of her humanity and vulnerability, that for all her drive and ambition she's ultimately just a mother who can't go through with killing her own daughter.

for all that helen got ready for, she just could NOT pull the trigger on her own daughter... poor, poor helen! :(

For me it was in the show where Helen starts loosing her mind (can't remember the name). We always see her as so confident, assertive, and knowing what to do. Because of the bug or drug or whatever changed her personality, we see that there is a scared, hesitant side to her personality that is buried or in hiding.

I wonder if Helen goes through phases where she'll spend 20-30 years being more assertive, then spend 20-30 years being more retiring?

Good point. She usually tries to be so in control.

I think ordinarily you can tell when something is really wrong when she gets quieter than usual. Like when she gives Tesla Ashley's blood or when she comes back to the Sanctuary at the end of Pavor.

I can see Helen doing that. She was probably so busy during the 30s and 40s with the Depression and World War II that she decided to take the 50s 'off' so to speak, still doing her work but not putting herself out there at the forefront of all the action. It'd probably also help keep people from asking too many questions about why she never gets older.

:indeed: I think that's perhaps the closest we've seen her to losing it, seeing Helen get so cold and hard and just barely reining in her anger. But I'd like to see her get pushed beyond that, in a way kinda paralleling what happened to Kali where she started out as calm, mysterious, and under control until provoked to the point she unleashed her fury on the world.

Helen's ultimately very human and the events of the past 2 seasons have probably pushed her emotionally farther than she's been in a long time, dealing with Druitt, losing her father again, losing Watson, Ashley, etc. If anything could break through her facade I think the cumulative effect of all of that could, and an out of control Helen would certainly be a fearsome thing to behold. :)

Yessika told me that she figured out how to use Power Point to arrange the pictures and then upload it to Photobucket and pretty it up. She told me about this last year and i was never able to get it work... until a few days ago... and i love it!!

Don't feel bad. I'm using Photoshop 8, I have PP and I haven't even figured out how to do it yet. Very frustrating, but then I will figure it out even if it is on my death bed. :mad: :D

I don't have the patience to learn Photoshop... lol!!

This method is the best i can do and still make my art look good.

Can anyone tell, what kind of hair does Amanda really have? Long or short, blonde or brunette? She is blonde in SGU, but brunette in Sanctuary - that's very confusing. Please help. :)

Although she is a natural blond, she darkened her hair for Sanctuary. I believe she said it fit the character bertter. And she also grew it out. However, for SGU (when she plays Sam) she needs blond hair and therefore has to wear a wig. Hope that helps.

Yeah, I could have sworn that I read somewhere about Amanda saying she wouldn't wear a blonde wig for when she plays Sam after Stargate: Atlantis' last episode. I don't know how hair colour dying works tbh but I was always under the impression that her blonde hair in SGU was actually her blonde hair. Is it possible to apply hair colouring on top of hair colouring? If so then maybe Amanda applied blonde hair colour dye over her dark hair colour dye for SGU?

That's definitely a wig in that top picture. And if you compare Amanda's hair in SGU to how it was in Stargate: Atlantis' last episode you can see there's a difference again which makes me believe that her hair in Air, Part 1 wasn't a wig.

when I started watching Sanctuary it took me a while to get into Amanda with the brunette. After so long of seeing her as a blond it was a huge change. But i love her as Magnus!

She coloured her hair just because of her role in SGU. And then she re - colour it back. I think that her hair have to suffer so much .. :-(

I think she went for the wig for the webisodes b/c she wasn't sure if the show would go. Then when it became a regular series she decided the best way to go was to dye it. I think it turned out great. She looks great either way. jealous :)

Indeed. And I agree with Amanda's reasons for going with dying her hair for Sanctuary as a full TV series rather than wig as she did for the webisodes. Real hair responses better than a wig. I think a wig would also have been the worse for wear after episodes like Requiem and Pavor Nocturnus.
