USS Enterprise engineer Montgomery Scott may have described himself as an "Aberdeen pub crawler" on the show, but the widow of the actor who played the character claims that James Doohan believed Scotty would be born in Linlithgow, as does a local politician.

I read in a paper as well that in either a script or in a book or something (officially written by one of the writers) that it said something like "he considered the enterprise as much his home as his mother's house in Linlithgow" or something to that effect. but my memory is indeed flawed...
