I still maintain that the Northern states would be better off to cut the Southern ones loose.
Well, I suppose if people had that attitude back during the Civil War, the war probably wouldn't have happened. That would've been the best opportunity to cut the southern states loose. Obviously that didn't happen. So what would you do with the Left Coast, and the Northern Midwest? The truth be told, it is mainly the large cities that are the true Democratic strongholds, not so much the urban and suburban areas. This is generally true, even for many states that consistently vote Democrat in Presidential Elections.
So would you make the vote to secede on a county by county basis? If you did, the majority of the U.S. would still be intact, in terms of land mass. The big reason those large cities are such big democratic strongholds is because of the unions and entitlement factions. Without the rest of the country, I wonder how well they'd do...

I wonder if you can call the US The American Republic now.......
Since doesn't seem too United at all.....I live in the South good thing I'm not around the areas where they drive around with Confederate flags out in the country.
Seriously I feel the need to point out that Poltics in General reeks of some form of infectious terminal disease. Cause no matter what it causes health problems if you ask me in the form of stress and people not thinking clearly resulting in poor choices.....
That whole succeeding from the US thing seems so laughable it gives me a headache to think of it, just can someone tell me around here what good has politics caused if any and why so much stupidity is resultant from it?
I'd be dumbfounded beyond words if those states DID somehow manage to succeed....

yeah I often find myself wishing that all of NYS west of the Hudson would just cut that which is east of the Hudson off and become West New York (like West Virginia and Virginia)

The only state that can legally secede from the U.S. is Texas. The others could try, but it would be an uphill battle. Technically, it would probably be an uphill battle for Texas too, but it has the best legal chance of succeeding.

None of the states will secede from the US, they just pissed about Obama winning again.
What will they do if/or when the USA republican wins the next election....Ask to come back and be part of the US again? But then again, what will happen to the reps, if Texas does actually secede?
