The main act is the announcement of blocking transgenders from military service is going to create a firestorm.

Being they block people for all sorts of medical reasons, and even non-medical ones (too many tats, too tall (especially in the AF/Navy), why shouldn't they block transgenders cause of THEIR medical issues..

Well, Trump has a point. Trans folks should not expect the military to pay for their conversions. One of the conditions to join the military is "in good health". The Trans argument as I understand it is that since they were born in the wrong sex body and need a process and surgery to fix it (never mind the FACT that we can't really change people's sex, we don't yet have the technology to do it). This would mean that they are NOT in good health, disqualifying them from eligibility, just as it would disqualify anyone who is not in good health. That IS equal treatment under the law. Isn't that what they want?
If a trans person wishes to serve, he/she can get their health issues resolved on their own dime, and once healthy, can join.

And no, we shouldn't be paying for Viagra either.

Of the $6 billion military medical budget around $8-10 million is spent on transgender servicemen. They make up roughly 0.2% of the military population. At least those who are out and receiving treatment. This makes up around 0.13% of the medical budget.

Erectile dysfunction spending is around $85 million.

And then there's the fact that the Republican's only wanted Trump to issue an Executive Order to bypass the debate over funding in the senate. Instead he went on Twitter to announce a total ban on transgender servicemen. Which is why everyone involved seemed to be taken by surprise. Why they were all referring questions back to the White House.

The Pentagon is currently conducting a six month review on trans people in the military to see if they cause any kind of significant disruption. So far they have found no evidence that they do.

And it is not "transgenders" they are not robots in disguise.

Trans men or Trans women.

Being trans is not a disease. They are not sick because they are trans. It is not a mental illness.
