At the world famous Britannia Panopticon Music Hall in Glasgow, an evening of Laurel & Hardy films -
Towed in a Hole (1932), 10/10.
Although they are successful fishmongers, Stan convinces Ollie that they should become fishermen too, but making a boat seaworthy is not an easy task.
Two Tars (1928), 8/10.
Stan and Ollie, two sailors on shore leave, rent a car and go on a drive with their dates, but soon get involved in a huge traffic jam with dozens of ill-tempered motorists. A minor collision sets off an escalating series of tit-for-tat retaliations which eventually has most of the cars in pieces.
The Devil's Brother (1933), 6/10.
Ollio (Ollie) passes himself off as the dread singing bandit Fra Diavolo (Dennis King) and unknowingly attempts to rob the notorious brigand himself. As punishment, Diavolo orders Stanlio (Stan) to hang Ollio, but gives them a second chance when Stanlio bungles the job.
Taking them on as his retainers, Diavolo travels to the Tavern de Cucu in his guise as the foppish Marquis de San Marco to rob the rich, aged Lord Rocburg (James Finlayson) and woo beauteous Lady Pamela (Thelma Todd).
Stanlio drives Ollio and the innkeeper to distraction by playing "earsie kneesie nosie" and "finger wiggle," and gets drunk helping Ollio fill tankards of wine, sending him into an uncontrollable laughing fit. The boys plot to capture Diavolo but wind up with him in front of a firing squad.
Note: Based loosely on the true story of an 18th century Italian bandit chief, and a subsequent 19th century opera, it's a bit of an oddity in the L&H canon, being a historical story, partly a musical, and quite possibly the only Laurel & Hardy film you'll ever see with sword fight in it.
