Like An Angel Passing Through My Room - ABBA

I think this song has good lyrics....
            Spoiler:
            Long awaited darkness falls
            Casting shadows on the walls
In the twilight hour I am alone
Sitting near the fireplace, dying embers warm my face
            In this peaceful solitude
            All the outside world subdued
Everything comes back to me again
            In the gloom
Like an angel passing through my room

Half awake and half in dreams
            Seeing long forgotten scenes
So the present runs into the past
            Now and then become entwined,
            playing games within my mind
Like the embers as they die
            Love was one prolonged good-bye
And it all comes back to me tonight
            In the gloom
Like an angel passing through my room

            I close my eyes
And my twilight images go by
            All too soon
Like an angel passing through my room
....but the main reason I love this song is the music. It's such a simple song, with the ticking sound representing the passing of time. I also think the ticking sound gives the feeling of a music box.
This is one of the few ABBA songs in which Anni-Frid sings solo (most ABBA songs have Agnetha - the blonde woman - as the lead singer), and I like her rich tone.

It's a cliché, but I'd write too much about this so I'll keep it short. The album (Crack The Skye) is a concept album with a ridiculous (but brilliant) story involving space travel, outer body experiences among other things. In parts, it's also a metaphor for the death (suicide) of the drummer's sister when she was 14. As a result, it's full of epic, heart-wrenching lyrics. eg. In Oblivion:
                    Spoiler:
I tried to burrow a hole into the ground, breaking all the fingers and the nails from my hand

Is actually based on a true story. After her death, Brann (the drummer) started doing drugs and one night tripped pretty bad on acid. Quoting another source because I can't word it right:

Two weeks after her death, Brann got high and went to his sister's grave and started digging. He couldn't acknowledge that she was dead and wanted to bring her back. If nothing else, he wanted to open the casket just to see her face one last time.

The whole song is just brilliant. Atmospheric, proggy and intense. The two solos consistently give me chills. Tbh, I consider the album as one epic song but I don't think that would've gone down well in the tourney lawl. I can't speak highly enough of the album. ETA: Meant to add, the vocals and harmonies during the verses, that's the drummer singing. He didn't on any of the other bands albums, that was the first time. PHIL COLLINS STYLE.

                    Full lyrics:
                    Spoiler:
I flew beyond the sun before it was time
Burning all the gold that held me inside my shell
Waiting for you to pull me back in
I almost had the world in my sight

                    Lost love
                    Bright eyes fading
                    Faster than stars falling

                    Tell you I failed

Falling from grace cause I've been away too long
Leaving you behind with my lonesome song
                    Now I'm lost in oblivion

I tried to burrow a hole into the ground
Breaking all the fingers and the nails from my hand
The eyes of a child see no wrong
                    Ignorant bliss impending doom

                    Lost love
