May 18 2007 Colin Cunningham chose to KICK START his career in Kamloops. The Vancouver-based director, writer and professional actor is a recipient of one of five $20,000 KICK START grants designed to assist him in pursuing a career in directing with a calling-card film. A joint initiative — offered by the Directors Guild of Canada and B.C., British Columbia Film, Rainmaker Digital Pictures, Post Modern Sound, Western Post and Finale Editworks — more than 100 aspiring filmmakers applied for the annual funding opportunities. Mentored by Stargate Atlantis: Rising director Martin Wood, Cunningham happily settled on Kamloops to portray his script Centigrade.
