I don't know what in the name of sanity has been happening to the Giants in the past 25 games or so. Everything had been going fairly well... until the Carlos Beltran trade. Orlando Cabrera has been OK. Jeff Keppinger I think has been wonderfully steady and solid for us. Kepp will likely continue to be solid through the end of next year. But my goodness, Beltran has been flat-out awful, injury or not. There's only so many double plays and groundouts I can stand to watch. He's supposed to be the big hired gun. Hmph. I'm not impressed.
Well of course. The Astros only ever give away their best players and get nothing in return. Yeah we got Henry Sosa from y'all but pitchers acquired through trade ever rarely pan out for us.
The Astros had Beltran years ago and don't remember him doing anything to help other than cost money.
I'll be watching the Texans vs 49ers in an hour or so.
So far so good. Never watched before. And right now no good movies in the Netflix queue so bumped this.
Awesome. Deadwood was such an amazing show, I miss it.

Phooey. Beltran's got a piddly 15 GIDP - Pujols is tops in the NL with 25. But it gets worse - also in the top 4 are Molina and Holliday, while the Cardinal fans have to suffer thru a possible record setting year - currently 141 GIDP. Next higest team is Baltimore at 117. Record is 166 NL, 174 MLB.
And to stay on topic - what I watched today
Cardinals beat Pittsburgh 5-4.
and some Rams pre-season game, hurricane coverage.
I like it when our defense turns DPs of course. But watching our offense, which has been maddeningly anemic lately, ground into any DPs is aggravating. Base runners have been at a premium and to see outs and potential runs wasted is awful.

I've liked Keppinger and his high-contact hitting since his days with the Reds. The thing is, Kepp came through yet again tonight. He had that RBI double in the 5th inning yesterday and then came through with some brilliantly clutch hitting at the bottom of the 10th tonight. Moments like that, and the consistent solid hitting from him have made him one of my favorite Giants in the past 3 years. He's got an excellent eye at the plate. He hardly strikes out and the mechanics of his hitting stroke have been praised repeatedly by our broadcasters. Next to Pablo Sandoval, Kepp's got the highest batting average on our team.

People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but *actually* from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint... it happens to kinda look like the name 'Jeremy Bearimy' in cursive English.
I've always been a baseball junkie at heart and this summer has seen my interest in the sport receive the most amount of attention in literally years. I have literally watched every Giants game since SGU went off the air, which is basically a daily dose. I am very thankful to my DVR and Comcast's On-Demand service since I have very odd hours but I can still watch the replays whenever I want.

I've been a Giants fan since I was 12 so, to use a Giants baseball phrase, I pretty much bleed orange and black. But my goodness I can't stand seeing this anemic offense. With the exception of Keppinger, Sandoval, and a couple of other people, it's like these guys cannot get an RBI to save their lives. Absolutely awful.
