The best life lesson comes from baseball (and a character saying this in Rescue Me ) :

Anyway, baseball and life, one and the same. Everybody always says that life is too short. Bull***t. Life, unless you get hit by a bus or cancer, or set on fire, takes forever. Just like baseball. It's a series of long, mind-bogglingly boring stretches of time where absolutely nothing happens.

So you take a nap. And then after a little while, when that crisp crack of the bat hittin' the ball, so crisp, you could almost you could almost smell that wood burning, jolts you awake and you open your eyes to see something so exciting and intricate, and possibly, very, very meaningful that just happened, but you missed it 'cause you were just so god damn bored in the first place.

Baseball is hopelessly boring unless you're rip-roaring drunk

Admittedly though, it is a lot more interesting when you're actually at a game vs. watching one on TV.

Hmm, being rip-roaring drunk while watching baseball... I wouldn't know since I don't drink and watch the game at the same time the way some people do.
