I decided to come up with another alternative viewing order for seasons 8-10 of SG-1 with 1-3 of Atlantis. This order is designed to keep continuity (Moebius will always be after Letters From Pegasus and Before Siege 2) and to minimize unnecessarily changing discs when watched from the DVDs, so a switching discs when the disc is not over will only happen when continuity mandates it (see above example)

Heya all

Im sorta new to stargate and i was wondering what the entire veiwing order was meant to be. I'v heard that it goes like this, but im not tottally sure, can somebody please tell me the actuall order.

Apparently it goes: The original stargate movie, then sg1 seasons 1-8 then u watch sg1 season 9 at the same time u watch Atlantis season 1, then sg1 10 the same time u watch atlantis 2 then u watch atlantis 3 then the ark of truth, then continuem, then atlantis 4 and 5 and then finally u watch stargate infinity.

Is this right? if not could someone please tell me, and i want to know everything. Everysingle episode in perfect order, including infinity. Thnx soooo much to who ever helps

Here's the proper chronology...

Stargate (movie)
SG-1 Seasons 1-7
SG-1 Season 8 / Atlantis Season 1
SG-1 Season 9 / Atlantis Season 2
SG-1 Season 10 / Atlantis Season 3
The Ark of Truth
Atlantis Season 4
Atlantis Season 5 / Continuum

A lot of people will tell you to alternate episodes, but that's really not necessary. Alternating seasons is enough. Watch the SG-1 season first, then the Atlantis season. This is because SG-1 makes vague references to Atlantis while Atlantis will have lots of crossovers. The Ark of Truth takes place before Atlantis's third season finale, but the movie doesn't reference the show, so don't worry about Atlantis spoilers. Continuum was suppose to take place after Ark of Truth, but it was retconned to take place during Season 5 of Atlantis. This creates some continuity issues with Carter and Teal'c who made Season 4 appearances on Atlantis. They're minor issues, though.

Infinity doesn't fit in. It is a kid's cartoon that was made during SG-1's fifth season, it contradicts a lot of stories we've seen since then. If you like cartoons, check it out, but don't try to fit it into the franchise. Just accept it as an independent cartoon loosely connected to SG-1's early seasons.

EDIT- Eek! Someone beat me to it! Oh well, now you'll have two opinions, LOL!

I'll try to help, I may not be 100% correct, but this would be my suggestion:

Stargate (The Original Movie)
(SG-1) Seasons 1-7
(SG-1) First Episode of Season 8 "New Order" (it's a 2-parter)
(SGA) First Episode of Season 1 "Rising" (it's a 2-parter)
Then proceed to watch seasons 8, 9, and 10 of SG1, alternating with Atlantis seasons 1, 2, and 3. So for example, after watching SGA "Rising", you'd watch the 2nd ep of SG-1 Season 8, then watch SGA Season 1 episode 2, then SG-1 Season 8 episode 3, SGA Season 1 episode 3, etc, etc.

I believe "Ark of Truth" comes after SG-1 Season 10 and SGA Season 3, and keep in mind it is definitely before Season 4 of SGA. "Continuum" comes in after the first episode of SGA Season 5.

I don't know about Stargate Infinity. I've never seen that one. Maybe someone else can comment on that?

Anyway, this is how I'd watch it if I was going through it all again. Actually, I am re-watching everything, but I'm only in season 2 of SG1, so I hadn't even begun to consider the viewing order of SG1/SGA and the movies until now.

this is the list of episodes i made, everything is arranged by chronological order and that's the order in which i burned the episodes on my dvds so that i can watch it all by order and for everything to make sense.
each dvd disk has room for 12 episodes (and each of the three stargate movies takes the same place as 4 episodes)

AscendedThor, your viewing order has serious flaws. For one, SG-1's "The Shroud" came after SG:A's "The Return, Parts 1 & 2," not before.

I am 99% caught up with SGA. I have like 3 more episodes left and i am wondering if I should watch SG-1 and then Ark of Truth and Continuum or if i will be safe with watching them after i finish SGA. I understand the order in which i watched SGA is not entirely correct, but when i started it i felt that ten seasons of SG-1 was too much to watch, but i enjoy SGA so much that i think i might watch SG-1.

Ark of Truth takes place before Atlantis Season Four.... infact it probably takes place sometime during the back half of Atlantis Season Three...

Continuum takes place pretty right after the Atlantis Season Five Premiere Search and Rescue
