How is dad PA? WB DG!! How did the non-bike ride bike weekend go ladies?
My most wonderful, amazing, incredible Dad is hanging on the golden streets with the Lord. He left me last month and I miss him terribly! I am joyful for him. For me, I selfishly wish he was still here.
The last few months have been most testing and I just didn't have the brain power for the posts you desere. I think I am moving back on track. We will see how it goes. Hugs all and thanks for your patience.
Ainty
Aww Ainty, I'm soo sorry to hear that, hun. Pray that all is well and just take your time with everything. We will still be here for you.
IM me if you ever need to vent or just to talk. I'll be there
Convention Time! Bags are packed and already loaded on the bikes. I don't think I've ever been able to pack for a week away from home and have it fit in a duffle bag. Extra shoes included.
A week with nothing to do but talk bikes, ride bikes and plan bike trips. Food, drink, fun and friends.
I hope that we don't have .
I know I've been MIA for a little while, but I had a hemisection done on my #18 tooth, so much like Hughes, I've been hopped up on some painkillers (and "forced" to eat ice cream and other cold, soft foods). I'll probably get around to making some posts within the next day or two. You know, when one half of my face doesn't look like a chipmunk and I can actually manage to swallow without wanting to cry. Might be a little exaggerated but, hey, sympathy!
That said, this is a busy month for me, so I'm going to go ahead and put in some advance warnings. My "rounds" for my usual haunts.
On the 7th, I've got my uncle coming to visit, but don't quite know how long he's staying. He's a DV for the final space shuttle launch (and can bring one person with him). Me! So, very excited for that.
I will also be gone for several days around the 22nd. Same uncle, different event. But he's getting promoted to Brigadier General, so going to that, too, obviously.
Haven't firmed up the dates yet, but I've got a couple of post operation appointments for that tooth. Much less fun, but also a necessary evil.
Totally unexpected camping trip over my birthday week and week before. Internet may come and go, Ainty, I hope to post tonight if I am able, if not I shall post this weekend!

See you 10 July.
Home again! OY! My tush hurts.
I met some of the COOLEST ladies there. Gloria is 86 years old and RODE to Michigan from New Jersey.
The youngest conventioneer was 15. Legal rider from Tennessee. She was there with her grandmother and mother.
Some ((unprintable)) idiot purposely and with malice aforthought caused one of our ladies from Colorado to have an accident. He suckered her into trying to pass him by doing less than 20 MPH and hugging the side of the road. When she pulled out and sped up, he cut in front of her and slammed on his brakes. Then the *&^%$%& left the scene.
She's kind of OK. Scrapes, bruises, some strained muscles in her leg. Bike isn't really rideable.
The cops who investigated the incident were PISSED!!! Needless to say, so was the rest of the folks at convention. About a third of us wanted to form hunting parties and hunt him down. Cooler heads prevailed.
Outside of that - it was a great time.
Next year in South Carolina.
2013 in Bend, Oregon. I've got to get a more comfortable bike before I try that.
Thanks! Had a blast -- uh, no pun intended. Okay, fine, it was. May post pictures at a later date, but not now. Was up at 4:00 for this and just got back around 9:00. So completely wiped.

I have done many a launch! Have some well entrenched family! Really wanted to do that one, more important doings on the eighth for me (Interned my Dad's ashes. It was a wonderful military service - air force - we even had an unplanned fly over during the playing of taps. takes one's breath away).
And agreed - i am sure it was a blast -- literally and figuratively!

One more week and our life/summer should get back to a more normal pace.
Next weekend is the big Walk. Susan G. Komen 3-day for the Cure. 60 miles in 3 days.
I'm walking. Gen decided to crew this year. She's got one more day of work than I do.
Wish us luck!!
OMG! What an experience. The people were great - walkers, crew, medical, safety and cheerers. YAY for the streetside cheerers.
I got the whole first day, 22 miles and most of the second day, about 16 miles. Then the blister/sore on the bottom of my foot took me out. On Sunday the medical staff wouldn't let me walk. I got bussed to lunch and closing ceremony.
I did become part of the cheering team as the walkers came in for lunch.
I don't know if I'll walk next year but I will crew in a couple of cities.
Ainty - I will walk it again. It's too great of an experience to miss.
Hint - stay in a hotel for the night. SGK will shuttle you to the nearest one. Check the website for Event info.
While camp is nice, I much prefer sleeping in a bed that I don't have to crawl out of and walk through the wet grass to use the porta-potty in the middle of the night. Stay till after dinner, then enjoy the creature comforts of hotel.
