Obviously that would change over the next coming days, soon enough they would all know who he was and why he was at the base. After standing there for a moment, with Airman Brooks keeping an ever watchful eye on him, Brian decided to break the awkward moment with the others sitting by leaving the area and heading into the hallway. He was never one for doctor's orders, the blood had dried and he had plucked the glass out himself already. Standing there, taking a deep breath Brian watched as Cooper exited the curtain. Amazed that Brooks let him this far off his leash already he made a b-line out of the waiting area and into the med bay, casually walking over to him as if it was an ordinary day and they were the closest of friends

"Kevin! How are you doing? You must be exhausted" Brian said in a condescending, fake-best friend tone, on purpose.

"My first thought after arriving on base was to come see you and make sure you were okay....No that's a lie, your girlfreind Charlotte begged and pleaded with me to check in on you and make sure you were okay, she was utterly devastated about not knowing how you were and would be here herself if her and my pleadings had any sway on Sergeant Mykonos. " Brian continued with the same tone.

"Oh!, and she also gave me a message for you, only two words if I recall correctly. She said 'I know'. I thought it was quite cryptic myself, and I am sure it doesn't mean anything to anyone else but you. It is almost like you develop your own secret language when you are in love like the two of you. I would not know anything of the sort though, Lady Love has yet to come knocking on my door."

What the h3ll is the matter with that man?!’ Brooks took a deep breath and caught up with him in the middle of the conversation, grabbed a firm hold of Hunt’s upper arm and once again led him out of the Med bay, shutting the doors behind them as they passed them and moved over to the couches.
“Now what part of the phrase “Sit down” didn’t you get sir? You are supposed to sit here and wait. One more attempt to enter the Med bay without consent from the staff here and I will confine you to the brig. Is that understood sir?”

“And you’re about to be released. Just give me a second the get something for the arm.” He grabbed a piece of gauze and then sat down and started to peal off the adhesive, removed the needle and pressed the gauze against the crook of the arm. “There you go. Keep your arm elevated for awhile while you put pressure on it and then you’re free to go. I heard that Aaronson should try and get some juice and cookies for you. I’d recommend you go and check the nurses’ station on your way out, and see what they rattled up… Believe me, you’ll need it”

She flinched a bit as the needle came out, "Yes sure," she agreed as she pressed the gauze that was on her arm. She was glad it was over. She didn't want to see that needle again for a long time.

Getting her feet too fast she felt a wave of dizziness strike her. Adjusting her balance she waited till the effect passed. Once she could see clearly, she looked over to Sharp and Blue, taking a deep breath she walked out the med bay, She didn't want to wait on the juice and cookies, her nerves were jumbled up as it was. She might wolf down something in the mess later.

She waited for the elevator to arrive once it did she punched the level 3 button. She would wait for Blue in the briefing room.

((A little lost with what's going on with Hunt right now, so I if I need to edit once that's straightened out, then I will. ))

        [Nurse Jennyfer Santiago-Med Bay]

Jennyfer nodded to the Chaplain again that she would do her best to find out what she could, but said nothing more on the subject.

The nurse caught the mumbled words of the coucilman and widened her eyes in suprise. "You should give Dr. Aaronson a little more credit. He's not such a bad guy. We've just had a very difficult week in here, and he's not quite over all of it yet. I'm sure that he'll let you donate the blood as soon as he looks at your medical history to verify that your current high blood pressure hasn't been a problem in the past." Jennyfer narrowed her eyes at the man, and asked the question just to be sure. "I mean, it hasn't been a problem, has it?"

Jennyfer heard the voice of yet another intruder into the med bay, and was about to go take care of him herself, when she heard Sam doing the deed. She breathed a sigh of relief and allowed the noises in the med bay to return to normal, while she answered the chaplain's newest question. "You can call me Jennyer, I don't mind. And of course there's another way, a couple of them, in fact. We can go through the hall." It would probably be quicker to go that way anyway.

Jennyfer didn't know who Hunt was, nor why he would want to bask in anyone's anguish, but she also knew enough from the look on Cooper's face not to comment on the matter just yet. As long as this Hunt and Cooper both behaved themselves, then she wouldn't have to worry about the obvious conflict between the two men.

The nurse met the Chaplain's eyes at the mention of someone named Charlotte. The look on her face almost mirrored that of the other man's. This was yet another topic that she didn't want to get too involved in. Hopefully, the Chaplain wouldn't push Cooper for too many details. This was dangerous ground they were walking.

Again the voice that she now knew to belong to Hunt sounded from somewhere else in the med bay, and again, she listened as the SFs pulled him away to sit in the waiting room. As soon as Cooper was settled, she would have to go check on him, if Gus wasn't already in there taking care of things.

Ambulatory casualty, one or more broken ribs. Possible shock, had a rough ride back to post."

Sam had checked up with Cooper and the Chaplain, and had found everything ok there (as much as could be, and he knew he would only be in Jennyfer's way when there were other things to be doing). He thought it was best if he now re-manned the nurses' station, seeing as the blood donors were nearly all dealt with by Mike.
He now found himself listening to sergeant Black.

"Sure, sarge, right away. Let's move him in here, please. Can he walk ? If not, I'll get a gurney ?" He indicated the Med Bay for Dean's initial examination.

Dean had found the way back to reality, at least it seemed that way to him. Though it still didn't make much sense. Something told him he wasn't in Kansas anymore. As if I ever was, he snorted to himself. When the male nurse asked if he could walk, he grunted a yes.

"Good, good! Let's move you, then. Best thing, don't worry a bit! We'll get you comfortable in no time." Sam wasn't perturbed by the man's painful grunt, people were often not in a good mood when they were hurt. It was a good sign, actually. It meant the man was doing better, at least a bit, than from what the sergeant had said. Doesn't look like he's in shock...

Sam dismissed the SF with a few notions of his head, and the man shrugged, then took up a position in the waiting room. It seemed the Infirmary staff had a lot on their hands, and an extra pair of hands in security issues would probably not be a bother. As long as he stayed out of the way.

Soon as they got Dean settled into a Med Bay bed, Sam turned toward the sergeant.

"Okay, sarge. I'll go get a doctor to take a look at him. Is there anything you could tell me as to what happened to him ? Who is he anyway ?" Sam couldn't remember having seen the guy before, though there did ring a vague bell ((OOC: I'm assuming that everyone in Foreston has had a medical at some point at the base, especially if they first arrived on Gaia.)).

Dean had been listening, grasping at the voice of the nurse to get past the shock.

"Dean Holmes is the name. Foreston PD." He said, sounding a tad bit ragged.

"Ah, good, splendid, splendid! Now, please, don't talk, you're doing great!" Sam told him, then looked at Black, hoping to get more information on what happened; he knew Gus would really want to know this. It always helped with the treatment if doctors knew exactly what had happened.

<<NPC ~ Joshua Samuel McGregor SG Chaplain, Kevin Cooper ~~ Med Bay ~ Infirmary>>

Cooper gave a frustrated look at the two people inside the curtain with him. They acted as if he was a small child. Like he actually didn't hear all that was going on. "Yes my blood pressure is normally fine. Well maybe not on occasions of dealing with the likes of Hunt and Aaronson. But normally yes, I test out just fine." He looked to the Chaplain. "Well McGregor, I know you feel I need to be baby sat and protected. I assure you this is my life and I am used to it. My thoughts are the sooner we address the issues of this man and send him on his way the sooner we will have some peace."

Josh stepped back and tried not to reveal his astonishment of the actual gall of this man. He looked to Jennyfer to get a read if she thought it was a wise move.

Then the man was back outside the curtain attempting to chat with Cooper through the small crack. Josh reeled about looking for assistance from one of the airmen.

Kevin glared at the man when he made his crass comments about his realtionship with Charlotte. Cooper certainly was not going to be drawn into this. He made his way past the nurse and barrelled on by McGregor and followed the escorted Hunt out to the waiting area. "Okay Hunt, do you have a problem here. If you do let's get to the point. I am in no mood to play your silly little head games." He had no intention of acknowleding his comments in regards to Charlotte. She was none of his business and that was that.

Josh mumbled under his breath as he stayed on the heals of Cooper. He had not meant to be rude to Jennyfer and just walk off on her but, Cooper was his charge and all he needed was this to all fall apart with Blue and Sharp in observance. He flashed a look to Sullivan whom he was grateful to find had returned to the area.

Gus smiled sympathetically at the nurse's complaints. "I know that Julia. I've read Dr. Steele's notes in your file. Believe me, I want get you back into your own quarters as quickly, and painlessly as possible. But I'm the CMO here, and you know my release policy. One final check, for my own peace of mind. Ok?" In many ways, the doctor thought of Julia as more than just another member of his staff. She was family. And as such, he felt an extra responisibility to look out for her.

The doctor was thankful when the nurse agreed to one final exam and waited for her to get as comfortable as possible before beginning. Gus raised his eyebrows when Julia turned away from him, but knew that not seeing what was happening often did help one to cope with pain better. His hands were gentle as promised, and his years of experience allowed the exam to pass quickly. "Alright. I'm all done. Still no sign of anything bad, so you can get out of here, as soon as we get a wheelchair in here for you. And don't even ask about crutches. You've got a couple days to go before I'm willing to let you try those."

The CMO reached for Julia's chart once more and scribbled his signature at the bottom of the release form, as he continued to talk. "I want you to get a lot of rest over the next few days, and as soon as those ribs have healed a bit more, we can talk about you coming back to work. I don't want to put a timeline on anything yet, but we'll see what happens. Ok?" Gus offered the a wide grin and waited for her to agree to the terms of her release before handing her the patient copy of the now signed form. "I'll get this to the nurse's station right away and someone will be by to see that you're all settled and ready to head out in a few minutes. Are you going be alright? I mean, is there anything else that you need?" Gus knew that more emotion than what he had intended came through in his voice. He could only hope that Julia hadn't noticed. He had meant more than being ok for the time being. He meant everything, ok with everything that happened the past couple days. Gus forced his concern to the side and waited to find out if Julia needed him for anything else.

              < Recovery 1>

“Okay, I’ll wait for the wheel chair then” Julia pulled down her sweater and eased herself up to sit with her feet over the side of the bed to face her boss.
“I’ll be fine, I know it might take a while, but I’ll manage” she slipped a small sigh and gave Aaronson a small grin “and if I don’t… Well, I know where to find you… Just try and get me back on the duty roster as soon as you can will you? Please? Even if it only means light duty and shuffling papers… I want to move on. I’ll go stir crazy if I don’t have anything to do. I know you’re only thinking about my wellbeing, and I appreciate that, I really do. I just wanted you to know that I want to get back on duty as soon as possible. You know what they say if you fall off a horse, you should get back on as soon as possible again…”

Gus nodded his head slowly, satisfied with the nurse's answer for now. His mouth slowly turned up into a small smile and he gently placed one hand on Julia's shoulder for support. "Ok, I'll have you back in rotation within 48 hours. I don't want you pushing yourself too hard. So, get lots of rest in the mean time." He squeezed her shoulder lightly before releasing it. The CMO watched the nurse's expression for another few seconds before sighing to himself and exiting the room.

Next stop, the SF who had been shot. His recomendation would be another 24 hours of downtime for the man before returning to light duty. But ultimately, it would be up to his CO to decide just how much work to assign the man.

"The SFs can take care of Hunt just fine." Jennyfer protested at Cooper's words. Then she caught sight of the look that the Chaplain was giving her, and with a sigh stepped back as well. It was probably better to give Cooper a little space. But part of her knew that at the first sign of trouble, she would be forced to step in again to prevent the entire infirmary from becoming one large boxing ring. "But you're right. You are a grown man, and don't need a baby sitter. You do, on the other hand, need someone on your side. And I think that McGregor is doing a fine job of that."

Jennyfer sighed as the councilman hurried past her, but quickly followed behind him and the Chaplain just to make sure that nothing got too out of hand. Thankfully, the drama didn't last long before one of the SFs caught up to Hunt and managed to drag him away from the med bay. "I do hope that's the last interruption that we have." She said quietly to herself and looked between the two men to determine if they were ready to go to the iso room yet.

At Carrie's instructions, Dr. Steele began to slowly assess the extent of the damage that had been done to the artery. There were several glass fragments as well as a sizable chunk of bullet lodged inside the patient. She would need to clean these out before being able to control the bleeding any further. Unfortunately, time was also a factor, and the doctor knew that there wasn't much of it left.

Her hands moved steadily and accurately, working to save the life of the young woman on the table in front of her. She blinked only as often as she needed to keep her eyes moist, not wanting to remove her attention from the patient for an instant. She was vaguely aware of Carrie's presence next to her, watching for any sign that she needed help.

Julianna heard the conversation between Mary and Carrie, but didn't comment aloud. She unconciously echoed the other doctor's sigh that at least they would have something to give the patient until more blood donors could be contacted. In the back of her mind, she filed a mental note to mention the blood bank shortage to General Blue, and see if he had any ideas on how to motivate the base personnel to donate without ordering them to do so. She made a point to listen closely, however, when Andy read off the latest readings. So far, Brih had been a very lucky woman, and Julianna hoped that luck would hold out for just a few more minutes.

Under different circumstances, the doctor would have laughed at the way Carrie reacted to Andy's calmness. Personally, she had always been greatfull for it. If everyone else in the OR was able to stay focused and calm, then it increased own ability to focus on what was important. It was difficult to stay relaxed in such a stressful environment, and those who succeed made all the difference when it came to life and death situations. The 'serious calm' she called it. Not bothering to listen for Andy's retort, she diligently continued working.

"I do see. Thank you. I never would have thought of trying that." She told Carrie, with a small grin behind her facial mask. Emploing the new technique that the other doctor had just shown her, Julianna was able to quickly finish the removal of the various debries and start working on controling the bleeding directly.

Again, she heard the disheartening news about the status of the blood supply, but didn't comment. They would have to use what they had and conserve as much as they could. A little more work, but certainly do-able.

Only a few short moments after Jennyfer left the OR, Julianna felt confident that she had managed to bring the bleeding under control. "Alright. One more disaster hopefully averted." She announced quietly. "At least it isn't seeping anymore. But we'll need to keep an eye on it in follow-up. "

She cast a furtive glance in Andy's direction, trying to read the man's expression in reaction to the current vitals, and sending a silent prayer to whatever god happened to be listening that she had been able to react in time and control the bleeding enough that the patient had stayed within normal limits the entire time. "Andy?" She prompted the man when she was unable to determine what he was thinking.

Andy was silent for some moments, watching the readouts from the monitors.
“She’s doing better… But I think we both would appreciate if you were trying to get us out of here sooner rather then later. Carrie?”
“Yeah yeah, I’m working on it.” She shot a glance on the clock, rolled her neck and shoulders a couple of times and then turned her focus back down towards her patient “Just give us a couple of more minutes to make sure we don’t have any more leakage. I’d really hate to drag her in here again later today… I think we’re just about done with the debriding, so just hang in there will you?”
                            “Thank you!”

Carrie grinned behind her face mask as she started to close the incisions they’d make during the procedure; after all, it had went well, maybe a bit longer then expected, but no real surprises. She cut the last one of the sutures, put the instruments away and looked up towards the rest of the staff in the room.
“Okay! Guess that’s it… Mary? Can you go and check which one of the recovery rooms that is available?”
“Yes, right away Carrie.” Mary hurried out of the OR and Carrie turned her attention back to Julianna
“I’d like her to remain on the ventilator for a couple of more hours, just in case.” and stepped away from the table and started to remove her surgical outfit, revealing a rather sweat soaked scrub shirt under. She tugged on it and grinned “Guess it got a bit tensed after all uh? Do you think you can handle it from here? I’d like to go and see if I can find out where Cooper is, to have a talk to him since he seems to be her next of kin… I think it’s only fair for him to get an update before I hit the shower.”

“Okay, thanks” Sam nodded and turned his attention back to the deputy, wrapping a BP cuff around his arm as he spoke. “So, one hit in the head and some busted ribs uh? Can you tell me how you feel right now and what you remember about what happened?”
Sam knew that it might be tough to answer these questions, but this way he could get, not only the answer about his patients condition, but also a check on his awareness and possible memory loss after he’d been hit in the head.

Mike walked over to Dr Parkers to have a closer look at the bag “Yep, last one done as well…” and then looked up at the doctors’ face, and chuckled inwardly at the apparently sleeping man in the bed 'Scientists. They are all of the same breed. They really should try and cut down on their working hours during the night and actually sleep like the rest of us.'
He nudged the man by the sleeve in an attempt to get him more aware of his surroundings before removing the needle.
“Dr Parkers? How are you doing? You awake?”
