"I understand, Sir" Tom said hiding his disapointment. "Trent I want to you to stay with Oren." Trent looked up. "Fine..." he said disharted as they followed the colonel.

Jaime stepped off the elevator and was relieved at the sight of the open Mess doors. Something delicious-smelling was wafting out and she gave thanks again for Henry. The man never ceased to amaze her.

She stepped inside and looked around, finally spotting Henry as he crossed the kitchen behind the counters. "What's on the menu, Henry?" she called out cheerfully.

The sergeant looked up and smiled at the sight of the pretty little tech specialist. Her hair was up in a haphazard bun, various bits sticking out randomly, all held in place with what looked like a well-worn laquered chopstick. "Miss Taylor. Little late for supper, are you?"

"Well, I *was* here earlier, but everything was closed..."

"Oh, that." Henry waved it off. "Sorry. Colonel Sharp's orders. Had some sensitive visitors, wanted to keep things quiet." He looked smiled. "I figured I'd have a few stragglers, but you're the first here. Ready for something new?"

"If it tastes half as good as it smells, I'm in," she grinned. "Oh- but none of those weird berries..."

Henry laughed and began dishing things up, motioning for Jaime to get a tray. "No worries there. We had enough people have issues with them that we've taken them off the list of Gaian consumables. Here you go." He handed over a bowl of a creamy soup, a small dish of fresh greens, and a hot sandwich. Jaime inhaled.

      "Mmmm. Nix?"

Henry nodded. "There's plenty of them and its agreeable."

"You got that right," Jaime smiled. "Thanks, Henry." She picked up a glass of water and sat down at a nearby table, eating her supper in comfortable silence.

Funny, she thought absently as she chewed. Always too crowded when you want alone time, but never anyone around when you're feeling sociable. Wonder why that is? Maybe it's me.

Smiling to herself, she finished off her food, cleaned up her mess, and waved to Henry as she headed out. I'll bet the Lounge is the hot spot tonight...

        <<From Infirmary>>

Claire walked through the double doors of the mess hall fighting her yawns that keep escaping from her lips. Swearing she entered the back of the mess hall which was the kitchen. Seeing Henry already working away, she greeted him, "Morning," as she made a beeline for a clean glass on the rack and filled it with water.

Eying him mixing some dough, "Do you usually get up at this time of the morning?" she asked as she pulled out a aspirin and popped in her mouth before washing it down with water. Seeing him give her a dull look she gave a chuckle.

She waited for the meds to kick it and ease the pounding. But she knew it won't help with her nervousness at all. For that she needed something more stronger, but one had to go to Jack's to get it.

Henry lifted his gaze from the dough and grunted.
“Yeah, well, some of us have to work for a living you know…” but then eased up in his facial expression, and grinned at her
“I’d have a riot on my neck if you guys don’t have fresh bread in the morning.” He gave her a scrutinizing look, before returning his focus on the dough, finding it finished and started to empty the big dough bowl on the table in front of him.
“And what brings you up here so early? Don’t tell me you’ve been up all night again lieutenant?”

Claire snorted at his comment, "Like half us don't work for living. We bust our butts off world to make sure you guys here are safe." She kept her voice light.

She took a note of his scrutinized gazed that was aimed at her, then rolled her eyes at his question, "I couldn't sleep tried thou, besides I needed someone to annoy. And your the only one up at this hour."

Polishing of her water, she set the glass down, "I just haven't been able to sleep well in the past week, is all," she leaned over the bench and asked, "You got anything in the fridge I can grab for eating?" She knew she would only end up playing with the food anyway.

He gave her a playful smile “For you? Always!” He started chopping up the dough in to smaller pieces and he held up his floury hands towards her
“But you’re going to have to serve yourself you know…There’s some pie in the fridge on the left, 2 minutes in the micro doesn’t hurt, and sandwiches in the one on the right; and eating in my kitchen comes with an obligation;” He grabbed one piece of dough in each hand and started to shape them into French rolls “NO leftovers. Okay?”

She walked over to the fridge as Henry spoke, opening the fridge she decided not to have a sandwich. Pulling out the pie she heated it up then pulled it out of the microwave and moved around to get a fork out, taking a taste, "Um..I haven't had this in ages," she spoke between her chewing, then forked up another piece as she poured the juice in her glass.

"So how were things around here while SG-1 and 3 were on mission," she asked as she slide into the stool that was on the side.

Henry frowned when he saw Claire’s choice of food, but kept quiet, because after all; she was eating ‘Blueberry pie… Should have guessed she’d take that instead of some “real” food’

“It’s been… quiet… Oh, crap!” Henry grabbed a towel and wiped his hands and hurried over to the an airman further inside the kitchen,
“NononoNONO! NICHOLS!! How many times do I have to tell you, you don’t have to butcher the pig twice.” He grabbed the knife from the slightly pale man and held it up in front of his face.
“Be careful with that piece of ham! It’s food fercryin’outloud! Not some old piece of wood!” Henry made some slices before handing the knife back Nichols. “See, let the KNIFE do the work…” he sighed deeply, went over to the sink to wash up before returning to Claire and the dough and shook his head as he started to make some more French rolls.

“Should have been me in the old days, would have gotten me doing the dishes by hand for at least a week… Now where were we? Anything that happened during the last week? Hmmm…” He kneaded some pieces of dough while he went silent, thinking, and then shrugged. ‘What the h3ll, if she doesn’t know it by now, it’s only a matter of time, and if she does…’
Henry lifted his gaze from the table and looked towards Claire.
“I guess that the biggest news is that the General accepted to host a young tok’ra…”

Claire took a note his frown and shrugged. Lost in her eating the pie, she jumped when Swanson starting snapping. She watched the whole thing with interest. She felt sorry for Nichols though. The man was doing his best.

When Henry came back, she busied herself by drinking the juice. As he mentioned the blending of Blue with the Tok'ra, Claire nodded, "Sharp told us," she said softly, as the memories from last night talk ran through her mind, as her eyes for a moment inflected her inner pain, shaking her head before anyone noticed it, she looked at Henry with composed and false front expression "I haven't meet Janus yet," maybe she would when she saw the General in few hours time.

"Other big news would be the new Frat regs." she gave a dry chuckle as she finished off the last of her pie then slipped of the stool to look for more. Seeing another piece remaining, she left it for Sharp. It was going to be odd not sitting with SG-1 after this, "I'm leaving the other piece for Sharp," she spoke as she took out a fruit platter.

“Oh he did, did he? Good! I wasn’t really sure if you knew… But from the looks of things, I doubt there will be any change. Blue is still Blue to me you know”

Henry shot a glance over to Nichols, nodding in satisfaction that the boy actually *tried* to do as he was told now; hopefully he’d gotten him thinking about what he was doing, and maybe even learning something too in the process.
“Hmm. New frat regs uh? Yeah, I’ve read those.” He tossed two pieces of dough he’d been kneading on a baking plate and grabbed some new ones without meeting Claire’s eyes. “No comments on them or their affects on the people here on the base though…” Henry felt a slight heat on his ears, remembering the two officers at yesterdays breakfast/lunch “…I just hope that the involved parties handle it as the officers they actually are…”

Claire nodded, "Sharp hunted down all of us just to tell us," she said fondly as a small smile played on her lips, pushing down the pain, she continued, "besides in the de-brief I saw Blue as he was even when on that time he was blended. His flagship team is standing by him."

The thoughts of her no longer on the team seemed odd and the hunt that would no longer involve her made her sad. Picking up her juice she drank it for ease her tight throat. Listening to Swanson, she raised an eyebrow, "What did you do?" she asked, as she brought the glass to the table and looked at the mess boss again, when he didn't meet her eye, "and your not talking about Ashwood and McKinnon are you?"

She remembered Kim's reaction before the de-brief started; to her comment, about McKinnon and breakfast, "Oh god no!" she exclaimed loudly, "Henry you didn't do what I think you did."

This was a welcoming distraction for her. So she didn't have to fidgeted about what was going to be happening in few hours. The news of her departure from SG-1 would be the hot topic, but Claire wasn't sure if she was ready for such mass reactions.

Swanson cringed a bit and shifted on his feet, giving Claire a swift look.
“Yeah, it’s about them… I sort of tried to help out… and let’s just say that Major Ashwood didn’t really appreciate what I did… I just thought they might need some help and… Well, what’s done is done and I’ll have to stay down here for a while, out of range of Ashwood and her infamous zat.” He shrugged and went silent for a while as he continued doing some more bread.
“No big deal, I’ll live…” He looked back up at Claire with a twinkle in his eyes and a small grin “I hope!” then decided to change subject “and I see that you got your appetite back lieutenant. Good! Finally realized that you can’t live on just coffee, uh?”

                              [Mess Hall- 0610]

John walked into the mess hall he looked around the large room; none of his team was here yet. ‘Didn’t think so, most of them said they weren’t to keen on early morning wake up calls.’ He smiled and walked over to the coffee machine and poured him a large cup of coffee. He than took a seat waiting for his team to arrive, than he would begin a little informal out line of what he had planned for the training mission. ‘SG5, is going to get an unexpected wake up call this morning. Hope the good Major Steven’s doesn’t mind.’

He opened up his folder and began doing another preliminary sketch of what they would do. Since he wasn’t quite sure where she would have made camp last night. There are several possibilities to that, I wonder what time she will have them get up. He than grabbed his radio, ‘Perhaps I should send an early scout to check it out.’ He opened up a channel to the hanger bay, “Major Ezekiel to the Hanger bay.”

“Hanger bay this is Sgt. Daniels, here.”

“Sgt. I need you to send someone out to do a little recon for me, training exercise.” John said.

“Alright sir, where and what are they to report.” Daniels asked.

“I need them to go and check out the area around SG5, tell me there position and let me know what defenses they have set up. Also let me know who is awake and when the rest of them wake up.” John said.

“Alright sir, I will go myself, will let you know.” Daniels said, than headed out of the hanger bay grabbing a vest and zat gun as he ran out. “Major Stevens said she was doing a long training mission, I think I know where she might be.” Daniels than took off on a dead sprint toward SG5.

John leaned back in his chair and took a sip of his coffee waiting for his team to arrive, taking these last few peaceful moments in the mess hall to relax before his long day began.

((DG-no need to speed up your time table yet to get to this time, you can wait till after I send out Sgt. Daniels from the hanger bay and when he gets close to you. I will wait till after the hanger bay people are done before I post in there saying that Daniels has left. Just wanted to get this posted before I forgot to post it and before my team starts to arrive in the mess hall.))

Astra strolled into the mess hall heading straight for the food. She spent several minutes deciding what she wanted while the staff behind the counter waited for her to make her decision. Astra was a little nervous about her first day with her new team and hoped everything would go alright and she wouldn't screw it up. She was looking forward to the day despite the nerves she was feeling.

'It would be good to be off Base for a while. Be out in the fresh air and sunshine,' she thought, chewing her lower lip.

"I'll have the bacon, eggs, sasuages, a bit of tomato with toast please. Too drink I'll have some early grey tea with milk and two sugars please," she asked.

Astra tapped her foot while she waited and smiled broadly when the man placed her breakfast on a tray and slid it across to her.

                                "Thank you," she said quietly.

The linguist turned around to look for a seat and spotted John the CO of their team. She strolled over and sat to his right.

"Morning," she grumbled, tucking into her breakfast.
