“Alright, one at a time...” Tim looked at the others with an amused grin, “Ok, once you're off the base perimeters it's a nice 10 km walk through the forest and if you take it easy and keep a low profile you might actually see some of the local wild life. In town there's a church, a few shops...” He grinned at Emma and her apparent taste for sweets, “A terrific bakery with all sorts of stuff. Both native and Earth-kind of varieties. There's also a bar combined with a small restaurant. That's where most of us stay if we have to spend the night there.”
Tim chuckled, “No, I'm afraid there hasn't been any sightings of the later two. People on the other hand; there's a few hundred in the actual town, add the farms in the neighborhood, both native and from Earth, and you can add about another fifty to one hundred people. One thing to keep in mind when visiting though,” he winced and stirred in his pudding for a few seconds before looking up, “When you go there, you need to keep well below the radar. There are some people there who aren't very fond of us 'base people'. Not very many, but enough to make the stay there uncomfortable if they want to, so it's best diplomatic behavior at all times and any weapons one have when walking there is straight off to the Sheriffs office upon arrival.”
"People? Waldo? Bigfoot?"
