    Outside Mess Hall

Claire felt her stomach growl, "Hold on will ya," she scowled at her belly, "Your not the only one who's waiting."

Standing around the hallway outside the mess was a total bore, but she had nothing better to do with her time. Well, she could bury herself in her work, but on a empty stomach she wasn't able to work.

Twisting her face she looked at Carrie, "Can I get outta here?" she asked with hope knowing it was a slim chance she would able to catch her CO anytime before morning.

"I'll speak to him in the morning."

"Well Sir I was second in command of SGBD, I mean stargate building defence under my father although for the last 3 months or so I was in charge." Tom said taking a bite of sandwhich. "I was a sniper and hand to hand combat leader/trainer. That was all on the outside though. Internaly we trained in infiltration scinarios and other high priority missions. Also anyone who worked with the Stargate was being trained in the FA-92s. I had just finished preliminary classes and simulators and was going to be doing actual flight training next month when Hera attacked."

Carrie’s stomach complained in chorus with Claire’s as they got closer to the Mess hall doors.
“No, you can’t. Come on Claire… You’re hungry; I’m hungry, heck I’m almost on my way in to a hypoglycemic coma by now. We both now Sharp is in there and you’ve postponed this talk long enough now.”
She shot a glance towards the SFs outside the doors.
“Why don’t we see if we can persuade that guy over there? Positive reinforcement to choose the easy way out…”

He looked over to where the leaders were talking, "Good for us, good for you, and probably good for them. Why else would they do it? I'm not going to complain though."

          [Martha Khones]

Martha nodded her head in agreement with Micon's statement about not complaining. They should just accept what was freely offered to them and try to do whatever they could to re-pay the debt.

"What are their cities like? Is it all so...." she scrunched up her nose in a cute bunny-like way trying to think of the right word, "So, official looking, so strict like this is? It feels a little cold, not the temperature, but the feel of it." She tried to convey the atmosphere of the base using the best vocabulary that she knew. Language had never been her best subject in her limited studies.

She was starting to feel a little apprehensive about what was going to happen and Micon obviously knew a lot more about the galaxy and about the Tau'ri than Martha did. She had never even been out of the villiage on Ara until the day of the attack. Her father had been to other planets, but he had never talked about it, not even when she had asked him questions.

Sharp nodded as he explained his position. So...a sniper. he thought at first, until Jeff mentioned the mandatory flight training.

"Interesting...so everyone in the entire program can fly one of those ships? hmm" It was a rhetorical question.
That's something I should think about.'

"You said your father was in charge of the Stargate building?" He questioned. Was this man their effective General Blue? If so, Jeff would not only be useful as a working man, but possibly help in finding more allies.

Finding her stubborn streak kicking in, Claire pulled a face, "Of I can leave," she replied, "I have already delayed it for the whole day as it it. Postponing for another few hours will not kill. I can speak to him just before my meeting with Blue."

That was, Davis noted, if she could find the man free of work. She turned her head to see what Carrie was talking about, seeing the SF's, "Your welcome to try," she gestured, "let me know if you succeed."

"Well almost everyone we were only halfway threw training." Tom said "And yes he was. He was the one that was the first to look at NAPs before alliances were set up. NAPs were our Non-Agresion Pacts that we would set up before alliance talk began. Most of our alliances were for food trade for medical but we had a few military allies. The Coron being one that were going to help us with our new home." Then somethign hit Tom more though as a strong poke. "Sir If I may ask somethign only between the two of us, out of those in this room, Are you considering a mission to retrieve the ships from Ara?"

Sharp scored a mental touchdown as Tom explained about the allies his father had made.

Coran...have we heard of them? He was unsure, Blue would know.

He slightly grimaced at Tom's question. "As head of the fighters here on base I would certainly like to," He took a breath. "However, we really don't have the resources at our disposal. We have seven of our own fighters- And though they are formidable, if Hera has truly taken over that planet, I don't think we stand a chance." Actually a little saddened, he looked at the floor, then back at Tom. "I think that might be for another mission in the future."

“I doubt he’ll change his mind even if I threaten to redo his whole vaccination program… Marshall is probably more frightening then I’ll ever be.” Carrie looked back at Claire. “Ok then, I really hope you get your meeting with Sharp soon. The Lounge then uh?”

Claire chuckled deeply, "Redo? Do I want to know?" she asked as she pushed herself back on her feet. Looking at the closed doors of the Mess, she sighed. Not sure if she was glad to put it till later or tomorrow, but at least she didn't have to do it right now.

"Marshall scary?" she looked light amused at that. She hadn't had a direct contact with the head of the security since he assigned her; her quarters. "Nah," she waved her hand as she began to walk towards the elevators.

"Lounge sounds good," she said as she pressed the button to summon the lift.

He nodded to Thomas, "Perhaps the captain would like to see more of your base. I know I would. The last time I was here, I was restricted to the brig, my quarters and the briefing room."
The Roman rolled his eyes at the two men, "We tried to take over the base, Captain. It didn't work."

Mira continud to giggle happily as she played with the toy that the Roman boy had given her. She didn't understand what the older kids were talking about, but was content to ignore them for the time being. It wasn't long however before she grew bored of the popper and her abundant energy began to dwindle. She released a big yawn, and looked up pleadingly at the older Aran girl that she come to trust like she would a big sister. "Sleepy time, yet?" She asked trying to fight another yawn.

"Soon." Martha promised the toddler. She allowed the younger girl to lay her head down in her lap, and gently brushed Mira's hair with her fingers as the happy innocent child started to fall asleep.

"Sir I would like to give a little more details about our capture. I was brought to the bridge of the first Hatak where she showed me as she fired a voley into one of our more civilian country states. Then her and the other Hatak left orbit, and both hatak's were in orbit above the planet we escaped from." Tom stoped and then threw out one last little push. "If we could get to a building about 300meters from the stargate building there is an underground tunnel system that was from our planets first revoultion that I belive leads to or near to the FA-92 facility." Then Gaius spoke up. "Actualy Sir I would love to see your facility. And it would probably help if the children and the women if they could have a room."

Sharp's expression fell and he shook his head.
"I'm sorry captain, we simply don't have the resources." They would have to gather intel, prepare a large force..they didn't have enough men...and Hera might have already discovered the ships. However, Sharp didn't say this.

"Colonel Sharp? If I may make another request," Gaius looked toward the door where he'd seen several people turned away, "The little ones are getting tired and I'm sure they would appreciate a place to rest and refresh themselves."

Sharp grinned at the Roman's mention of their last battle. Taking a glance at the children and the women he, nodded his head. "I think that would be a good idea." He replied as he turned toward the rest of the off-worlders.

"Ok, everyone!" He called. "Hopefully you've eaten up because now I'll be leading you to your temporary quarters."

"And as for you two," He said in his 'indoor voice', "I'd be happy to give you a tour of the base."

                                [Aran Adult Women/Martha Khones/Mira]

All three of the adult Aran women rose the same moment, ready to follow the men out of the mess hall and get the children to bed before going to sleep themselves. The oldest of the three walked across the mess hall to where Martha had started to talk to one of the Romans. She was going to have a long talk with the girl about her behavior, but that could wait until the morning, after all of them had a good night's sleep.

Seeing that the toddler had managed to fall asleep in the older girl's lap, the Aran woman smiled slightly and spoke quietly to Martha. "I'll take Mira, now. Go with the other women and follow the men to the quarters where we'll be sleeping. And I do hope that you are able to get a good night's rest tonight. Tomorrow is going to be a long day, and I expect you to get up in plenty of time for us to have a little talk before breakfast."

                                *************************************

Martha was glad when the man named Sharp finally announced that it was time for them to leave the mess, and go their 'quarters'. She guessed that this meant room for sleeping. She gave Micon a shy smile of farewell, knowing that they would be seperated and she was unsure when they would meet up again.

She met the older woman's eyes as she approached the table and offered to take Mira to the quarters for her. Cringing at the mention of the talk to come in the morning, Martha nodded her head respectfully, and whispered,"Yes, Ma'am. I understand." She shifted slightly so that the sleeping toddler could be lifted from her lap.

                                *****************************************

Mira stirred a little in her sleep, but didn't fully awaken as she was lifted away from Martha. Her dreams were filled with happy things, such as butterflies, and flowers. A small smile spread across her lips as she was settled into a comfortable position leaning against the shoulder of the Aran woman.
