"Uh, what?" Devin asked. "I don't think I quite get the question."

"About me?" CJ's voice came out as a squeek, and her face turned as red as spaghetti sauce.

"People watch. You know watch what other people are doing, study them, laugh at how stupid they are. So, you ever people watch?" Kylie explained what she meant.

Robert merely nodded, unable to speak or even look at her. He closed his eyes, wishing he hadn't made the comment. Taking another deep breath, he opened his eyes, ready to face whatever awaited him, but found himself confronted, once again, with the urge to kiss her.

Laughing at how he'd so completely missed Kylie's question, Devin rubbed his beard, which was starting to grow a bit longer than he liked. "No actually I don't." Devin said, "I'm usually in my own little world or talking to somone so I don't really watch people in the manner you describe."

[Capt. Carol "CJ" Johannson]

CJ looked around quickly to be sure that no one was looking, or within earshot. "I couldn't stop thinking about you either, Robert." She whispered so that only he could hear her. "When's the next time you have leave coming up? I think I need to make a trip to Foreston on unofficial business, and could use a hand." Continuing to whisper, she tried to make the request sound not so obvious, but she knew that look in his eyes. In fact, she was feeling exactly the same thing. She wanted to kiss him, bad, but knew the only way they would get the chance was to get off base.

Kylie continued to look around the mess, she spotted two people at a table not far away, it was CJ and Robert, but she failed to recognize either of them. She had never met Lt. Huhes and CJ's back was to her, so she couldn't see her face. Seeing that the two were obviously having a very private conversation, she nodded in their direction. "How much you want to bet that right about now, despite the regs, those two are declaring their undying love to each other?"

Devin looked over at the two and had to struggle mightily not to laugh. "Oh this is priceless." Devin said smiling. "Carol Johannson and Robert Hughes. Johannson over there gave me all manner of crap for falling for you then she goes and falls for Hughes, just amazing."

Robert's eyes widened. "Umm, really?" He knew he shouldn't have been surprised; she'd admitted her feelings for him in the past, but it still proved to catch him off-guard.

He started gazing into her eyes again, throwing him off track. He grasped at the answer that he had lost. "I, ahh.., have a couple of days to use, umm, whenever."

((Heading off to bed soon. Been a long couple of days.))

Kylie did a double take at the two at the other table. "That's Hughes and Johannson?! She called me last night and wanted some help with something, but I was already in bed, so she had to leave a message for me. You wouldn't happen to know what it is, would you?" She looked hopefully at Devin. She could have kicked herself for talking about the very people that she would soon be working with.

CJ groaned to herself for saying the words out loud. "Good, I'll, uh, keep that in mind." She swallowed hard, not wanting anyone who could see them to be able to figure out what the two talking about. She wanted to leave just as soon as they had told Kylie about the Renim, give her a few days to figure it out while they were off in Foreston. She didn't say anything further aloud, but met Robert's eyes in a meaningful look. He really is gorgeous. She looked back at her plate after a moment and forced herself to take another bite of food, but she couldn't taste it since she was still admiring Robert.

Devin nodded, "Yeah, that's them all right. But sorry, I don't know what it is they want to talk to you about. Haven't had time to check up on matters of science." Taking a bite out of the cereal, Devin swallowed it then asked, "Would you like to ask right now? Or should we just give 'em a bit of time to themselves?"

Kylie took a moment to think it over. "Well, let me ask you something. If that was us, would you want a couple of yahoo's barging in on your conversation, or would you rather be left alone?" Kylie knew exactly how she would answer the question, and figured that this was one time when it couldn't hurt to follow her instincts, but she was curious as to how Devin felt.

Devin shrugged, "I'm just putting it out there as an option, though personally- and I speak from experience here, I'd rather not have people barging in on my conversations."

Kylie smiled at Devin. "Exactly what I was thinking. Let's leave them alone for now. Work can wait. Some things are more important." She took a sip of her coffee and tried to think of something else to talk about. "It's a good thing I like black coffee, sugar's not that great around here period." she said referring back to the conversation that she and Adria had been having earlier that morning.
