    Wraith Feeding Theory

Heres a theory on the evolution of the wraith feeding ability.

    [Spoilers The Gift]

We know that the wraith evolved from ancient dna which was introduced by the wraith insect things

But what if the wraith feeding power is a derivation on the Ancient healing power. We know that the Ancients can restore the "life-force" of another being. But could they also take it away from another being. The Ancient healing ability requires a physical touch as well as the wraith feeding. We also know that the ancients are very advanced genetically, maybe when this genetic trait was introduced to the wraith bug things, they being parasitic by nature adapated to feed soley on humans along with taking a human form.

    Spoiler:
It wasn't Ancient DNA it was human DNA. They got their lifeforce-absorbing ability from the bug they evolved from.
    Spoiler:
Life isn't all it's cracked up to be.

The insect already had the feeeding ability, didn't it? And anyway i hope that TPTB don't say that the Wraith evolved directly from that insect coz that would be stupid...
      Understanding is a three-edged sword.

My theory is that the Ancients unwittingly allowed humans to evolve on a planet with, uh, insect species on it. At some point the insects fed on humans and somehow incorporated our DNA into theirs. The Wraith are an evolution of that combination.
I’ve fed upon countless thousands of humans, Atlanteans,
It would make sense that the Wraith incorporate the DNA of their victims and that is how they evolved. My assumption is that when a far superior race such as Humans and eventually Atlantians are fed upon they must have recieved the benefits of 10,000 years of evolution.

that the Wraith evolved directly from that insect coz that would be stupid
Or possibly the process works in reverse and maybe the bug doesn't evolve into the higher lifeform but the host is injected with the bug genes making some sort of hybrid lifeform (like Teal'c in Bane) as stated by others on the forum. This is somewhat more plausable. Either way it doesn't look so good for Sheperd.
