Interesting gimmick and how they excuse as a result of damage.

Overall, I liked the noir elements and the narration.

There had to be reason they decided to same the guy. But they didn't really provide an excuse. Did they just feel like they needed more manpower or could his knowledge of SHIELD be seen as valuable?

They just didn't seem to make a case for why it was a good idea to do that.
