My comment to my wife after last nights episode...

"Wow, that really had the feel of a TNG 2 parter...except for the pee corner"

That episode was VERY VERY GOOD! I saw parts of Best of Both Worlds, Battlestar Galactica, DS9 and Enterprise (More Specifically end of season 3 with the Xindi). I didn't mind the pee corner comment, but they could have done less of the "at the last second reinforcements arrive" Trope with the Krill. But all in all, one hell of a episode, The fight scene was epic and I loved what Gordon did with his teeth when he looked at the other Krill fighter. Loved the Top Gun reference. The Orville, may be a love letter to Science Fiction, but it is coming into it's own! I wonder if they will pay homage to StarGate and try to get rid of the Kaylon ah la Be All My Sins Remember'd from season 4 of Atlantis. Or something similar to I Borg in TNG

And like the Borg, I'm sure they will be back at some point in the future.

While I agree with what others have said I feel like the use of the Krill was a mistake. It seemed to me the Krill would have continued the onslaught and defeated the remainder of the Union fleet. I don't know, that angle of it seemed off to me. I will say that this two-part-er is likely the high watermark of the season. VERY surprised this wasn't saved to be a Season Finale.

I guessed they would use this as a start of point for talks between the two. Maybe the captain was more open to it or as he said, saw it as a sign from Ava?

Great episode(s)! But the only things that don't quite make sense in Identity is:-

1/ If Kaylons including Isaac have guns in their heads, which was a dramatic revelation, then why didn't Isaac use these weapons against certain enemies in previous episodes instead of just using primitive Union hand blasters?

2/ Why did the Kaylons go all the way to earth to exterminate humans when they were of no real proximity or significance to them, plus there were most likely far worse/hostile biological lifeforms far closer to Kaylon space?

2. Im guessing Earth is one of the forefront membes of the Union, plus to send a message?

1. Not sure, maybe he didnt know he had them?

I think with the Krill, similar to Klingons, they have a code or honor from their religion that doesn't allow for them to turn on an ally, even a temporary one.

Why did the Borg start heading for Earth after Q exposed the Enterprise to them? This show borrows very heavily from Star Trek.

That one is unfair. It's common for most sci-fi to have the antagonist attack Earth. Not just Star Trek
