Hi there,
I just realised that Extremis was totally underutilized in Agents Of Shield. It could have been used to allow Phil Coulson to regrow his severed left lower arm after Mac cut it off. Also it could have been used on Bobbi Morse after her near death run in with Ward to return her to full health and strength.
Those are the only ones I can think of right now. Am I right??

Extremis is shown fairly clearly to be far too dangerous and volatile to use. It had only been stabilised a small handful of times and it's safe to say that Coulson wouldn't want to use such methods anyway. Plus as soon as Fitz mentioned anything about having spy gadgets inside the robotic hand I'm pretty sure that's Coulson sold.

Tony stabilised the Extremis in Pepper. They could have gotten a hold of that version through Maria Hill.

If they could have simply gotten it through Hill, then one would think that Hydra would also have gotten it back while they were infiltrated in SHIELD. But Hydra obviously didn't get it, since they were still chasing other solutions to fixing Extremis for their Centipede project. Which means SHIELD didn't have it.

My guess is that Tony's fix for Extremis may have been keyed to Pepper's unique DNA/biochemistry, making it useless to anyone else. A built-in failsafe to keep it from being misused as Killian did, if you will. And if Fury and Hill are going to keep Phil's very-much-aliveness a secret from Tony and the rest of the Avengers, they wouldn't be able to go to him to make a custom Extremis mix for Phil. Even if all they sent was an anonymous blood sample, there's too much of a risk that Tony would start asking questions and hacking everything he could to find out who that sample belonged to. It's like Fury said in TWS: compartmentalization.

Either that, or after he did his work on himself and pepper, he destroyed the resultant work, so Extremis shouldn't have been any more of an issue..
WHICH is why in S1 we saw the centipeed project, trying to recreate it..

I really think the Extremis thing was a bit of a mistake to include in the MCU. It was way too powerful. After Tony stabilized it, you could argue it made the Avengers (or many of them) obsolete.

True, Hawkeye and BW would have been rendered obsolete with what Killian and co could do, but Thor, Hulk and maybe even Captain would still kick butt.

Even Cap would probably be rendered obsolete. They can withstand inhuman punishment, breath fire and disable Iron Man suits instantly. Not even Mjolnir can do that with one hit. Or at least it hasn't been demonstrated to be able to do so.

It took a FEW hits to disable the IM suits in IM3.. Not instantly.

Rhodie was captured when one of the Extremis female soldiers disabled The Iron Patriot armor with a handshake.

At one one point in the final battle Killian cuts a suit in half with a single chop at another he punches hole right through one's chest. The suit stayed mostly intact after a few blows from Thor but Extremis powered beings cut through them like a hot knife through butter.

Maybe those suits in IM 3 were made of a poorer metal? Cause Starks own suits seemed to hang up better.. Well for 3-4 punches.

This was my theory. Stark's main suits are made from incredibly rare materials. But those highly specialised suits were all built in a short space of time because of Tony's PTSD needing to constantly build yet another suit.
