IMO a rather poor ep.. Other than the 'relationship' front, nothing much storyline wise got furthered.. And the fights? Man does it seem nearly every alien can beat up John and Kara...

Yeah, I'm tired of the relationship crap too. Keeps up, I'm going to lose interest in this.

What are they doing now? Laying groundwork for Kara & Winn a few weeks from now?

I have to agree, I wish they'd take a break with the relationship stuff. If it's not Alex/Maggie, it's Kara/Mon-El. It doesn't help that it all seems so juvenile/high school to me right now (M'gann and J'onn's relationship is the only one that seems mature to me). Kara says she doesn't like Mon-El after he confesses his feelings, only for her to later confess to Alex that it's more complicated than that and get jealous when she then sees him with another woman. Kara feels left out and Alex feels guilty because she (Alex) is going out to a concert with her girlfriend. It feels so silly. I also preferred it when Alex's main arc (outside of the adventure of the week) wasn't about having a romantic partner. Whatever happened to finding her father? (I really don't remember, did they settle that? The last thing I remember was him helping Kara and Mon-El get away from Cadmus)

I thought the story with M'gann and the White Martians was pretty good/interesting though.

They seemed to have dropped that plot line in the local black hole it seems.

I'm guessing/hoping that they'll pick it back up again eventually, but it seems weird to me that Alex hasn't mentioned anything about her dad since Thanksgiving (that I can remember, anyway). Her whole life outside of work seems to revolve around around her love life now, and I'm really not a fan of that (even when she's hanging out with Kara she's sqeeing over/talking about Maggie half of the time).

I quite like the Alex/Maggie relationship but I fel it's having a detrimental effect on Alex/Kara and that relationship to me is partly what made the show so good. I hope they manage to find a balance btween the 2 and get that back.

Also what annoyed me was Alex on team Mon-El? Like what the hell? It seemed like she was pushing this so she didn't fel so guilty about ignoring Kara even though Kara wasn't interested and now Alex has Kara second guessing herself. What the hell is going on. I know Alex is in a new relationship an' all but her blowing Kara off like that on her Earth birthday seems off to me. It's just not something Alex would do after everything Kara has been through, losing her entire planet and everyone she ever know other than Clark. It just seems OOC

They are doing a rather grand job isolating Kara the last few eps

I didn't mind Alex/Maggie (or Kara/Mon-El) at first, but now it Feels like Alex is all about Maggie, and I agree with you, it's affecting/taking time away from Kara/Alex and that's one of the things I loved about the show. I also hope they find a better balance. I thought the whole going to a concert on Kara's Earth birthday was silly and that it was a contrived/immature way to create drama between the sisters. The Kara/Mon-El scenes in this episode also felt like something out of a high school drama and Kara came across as being too wishy-washy.

The Alex/Maggie thing was kinda high schoolish and it wasn't like alex at all. I know her relationship is new but I just don't see her blowing off Kara on her earth birthday like that. It was too out of character IMO. Also the Kara/Mon-El was weird. It feels like Kara only started having feelings for him after alex talked her into it. I hate that they've got every guy that Kara becomes friends with ends up falling for her. I'm surprised J'onn hasn't fallen for her yet

I am also wondering was that whole Alex/maggie angle pushed into the show, to push a pro LGBTQ agenda?

Lol, I hope they never go there (and I really don't think they will), he's too much of a father/mentor to Kara for it to ever be romantic. It is a bit annoying that every guy that Kara becomes friends with falls for her, but I guess since she's Supergirl she inspires people and draws them to her or whatever lol.

I don't see it as an agenda. I think they're just trying to appeal to and represent all kinds of people.

Lol, that's true you never know :P They'll probably find some new guy to fall for her next season. I just hope they don't try to put Kara with Winn. I know that he had a thing for her during the first season, but I'm glad that she never had romantic feelings for him. I love their friendship and I feel that putting them together romantically would ruin it.

To actually give Alex some character development as opposed to her just being a placeholder like most of last season.

I thought the story with M'gann and the White Martians was pretty good/interesting though.
Which took about the good 2/3 of the episode.
As for the relationships in CW shows, they are what they are, I usually don't let them affect how I enjoy the story if it's good. I'll never watch a show for ships nor will I stop watching one because of them. I'm totally neutral towards Kara's constantly failed romantic issues, never was into them, nor did they ever bother me.
On the other hand I just love Alex and Maggie, totally ship those two crazy kids.

Pushed as in against some people's wishes. I totally doubt it, I'm sure Berlanti was looking for a coming out storyline in one of his shows, and decided that Supergirl was the best place for it, and CW agreed.
If the question is if Berlanti has a pro LGBTQ agenda? He does, and I'm totally for it. If seing it on a TV show saved one kid from attempting suicide then it already succeeded. And it did.

For me it depends on how the relationships are written and how much focus the relationships are getting. If I think that the relationships are poorly written and are taking over the show and they're affecting my enjoyment I'll stop watching a show. It's also about context for me. Like, I can watch a show like Downton Abby or Outlander or something and not be bothered by all the relationships or the focus on relationships, but if I'm watching an adventure/superhero show I don't want the romantic relationships to be the focus of the show (especially since they don't seem to be written as well as on those other shows). I also don't really have a problem with high-school relationship drama as long as the characters are actually in high-school. I don't like watching adults that are supposed to be mature professionals acting like they're in high-school when it comes to relationships. I just find it annoying to watch.

Very true. WE've as i mentioned, already seen one relationship break up (Jimmy and his beau), two other relation ships start then falter (kara-winn, kara-jim). So why is the only one seeming to be a 'stable one', have to be the Alex-maggie one?

Yeah I like the Kara/Winn friendship, but it's sad that they have issues at the moment because of the stupid Guardian nonsense. I hope they can get back to their previous friendship before the end of the season.

They seem to be trying to isolate Kara from everyone, Winn/James because of their disagreement on Guardian and Alex because she's focused on her new relationship, also Mon-El because of his crush on Kara. She doesn't seem to have anyone to turn to the now

I dont mind if Alex and Maggie have a stable relationship, because I'd rather not watch constant breaking up and getting back together (I thought the little breakup they had the other week was pretty silly). I'd just rather that Alex have more going on in her life outside of work/the adventure of the week than her girlfriend. I mean, she had that storyline involving her father (which I actually found interesting), but that seems to have been dropped for now in favor of focusing on her relationship with Maggie.

Well Maggie's "you get one" for Alex running away from the relationship indicates that there will be no break-up/get back together again unless it's for good. They will have arguments and disagrements as you do in every relationship but this serious relationship stuff is new to Alex and she's learning but she now knows she can't run off like that. That if you want it to work you have to work at it together.

I don't think they're quite over it yet. Didn't he say something about going to see James about Guardian stuff after the crisis was averted? She didn't look too chuffed at that. Or was that at the beginning of the ep? I get kinda confused.

I wonder if there's a specific reason for this isolation of Kara. Some more angst :D

Oh but I can't wait for the next ep, my favourite person is back :D

I think Winn mentioned going to see James a couple of times during the ep. Once was towards the end after the thing with the White Martians was over. Kara told him at some point during the episode that she didn't approve of the Guardian thing because she cared for him (Winn) and didn't want to see him get hurt. When it was mentioned towards the end he said something about it being his calling or something along those lines, I really don't remember, then she seemed to accept it and told him to be careful.

Since the next episode is called Luthors, I'm guessing your favorite person is Lena? I really like her too.

Lol, Lillian is kind of a witch (and not really the fun kind) and I barely remember the Metallo guy, so I figured it just had to be Lena :p :D

I miss Kara and Winn's interactions as well and I also miss everyone just hanging out together, but I do like Winn's friendship/partnership with James. I really like their interactions most of the time. I think Mon-El needs to get a friend that he's not romantically interested in.

Katie McGrath is awesome playing Lena :D Pity they couldn't keep her actual accent though ;)

Lena has that air of mystery going on. I just hope they don't go down the predictable route of making her evil like the rest of her family. I wouldn't have a problem with her blurring the lines a little though :D Id like to see Kara and Lena develop a friendship. It would be good if Kara had a friend that wasn't her sister or a guy (because they all keep falling for her ). I think there's a wee bit of a gap since Cat left (I miss her sassyness). With the way they're isolating Kara lately would be a perfect time for her to bond with Lena, the next episode would be a perfect opportunity to do that. What I am also dying to see is a bonding moment between Kara and Maggie, it could bring Kara and Alex closer again. Even though Alex turned up at her door with a cupcake for her Earth birthday I still feel there's a distance between them. I don't like seeing Kara lonely. AND FOR THE LOVE OF MY SANITY ALEX, stop trying to talk Kara into thinking she has feelings for Mon-El *facepalm*

I tolerated James last season, this season he annoys the heel out of me and at tmes I wish Guardian would kick the bucket. I want Kara/Winn best friends back :(

I love the gifs, so funny. But yeah I have to agree it's weird Mon-El is on it and not Alex. I liked Mon-El till he started his puppy dog routine with Kara. It just doesn't work. Kara/Mon-El is almost identical to Kara/James in season 1. Only difference is Kara didn't have feelings for Mon-El till Alex talked her into it.

I agree, Katie McGrath is great at playing Lena. I also wouldn't want her to become evil like her mother and Lex, but I wouldn't mind if she was more of a grey character. Kara and Lena are kind of friends, and I also hope that they develop that friendship more. I agree that there has been a bit of a gap since Cat left, but she was a mentor to Kara as well as a friend, I don't know if Lena can really fill that, but I'd still like them to be friends anyway.

I think that Kara does have some feelings for Mon-El and that Alex is just trying to help her come to terms with them.

I'd also love for Kara and Maggie to bond (maybe while working together). I think Maggie needs more to do outside of being Alex's girlfriend. When she was first I introduced, they showed her working on cases for that alien task force, now all of her scenes are relationship scenes with Alex. Even when she's at the DEO, she and Alex are talking about whose apartment they're going to hang out at or what kind of ice cream they're going to have later and not really doing much in the way of working on cases.

I like the Guardian thing because of James' partnership with Winn. I really like those two working together.

Katie McGrath is simly awesome :D Yeah her turning evil would be boring, predictable and lazy writing IMO. Although Lena and Cat are powerful women, they are very different. Where Cat was more of a mentor type to Kara, Lena could become a really good friend to Kara. And well Kara could do with a friend right about now.

I think that Kara does have some feelings for Mon-El and that Alex is just trying to help her come to terms with them.

From the way I saw Kara react and her body language, it looked to me she didn't want a romantic relationship with him till Alex put the thought in her head. It's almost identical to Kara/James in s1

The Luther ep could be a good opportunity for them to bond, especiallyif Kara ends up having to try prove Lena's innocence on her own. If she's the only one that believes her. Maggie is a detective and a damn good one from what I gather. She'd know if something was off or too easy. She might end up helping Kara

I like the Guardian thing because of James' partnership with Winn. I really like those two working together.

I just really can't stand James this season and the Guardian thing really hasn't helped. The way he was trying to get one up on Supergirl was pathetic and I think he done it originally because his ego was bruised after Kara friendzoned him and he wanted to stroke his own ego. Then he had a cheek to criticise Mon-El. Pot, kettle and black comes to mind ;)

I agree with her enforcing the law but I think she would have thought that Lena is a very smart woman and she wouldn't have been stupid enough to be caught on video removing kryptonite and basically getting caught red handed. That could have lead to her investigating further and Maggie and Kara teaming up to try find out the truth.
