Is it possible that Rush had the ATA gene and that's the reason why the chair on Destiny didn't kill him?

THey mentioned in the show that the ship Predates the need for the ATA gene on lantean tech..

that may be so, but the chair in Antarctica required the ATA gene as shown in Rising. Weir said that nobody who sat in it could make it work.

The chair in Destiny doesn't need the ATA gene. The others (e.g. in SG1 and SGA) do.

Yes it did, but who's to say the ancients DIDN'T add in that gene requirement to those chairs, AFTER they fled from pegasus..
