Hi all, I recently re-watched the Mummy series (corny as it is) and I'm in the mood for more. Any recommendations for pulp-adventure or sci-fi throwbacks? Preferably modern ones that are self-aware of the fact (like the Mummy) but not necessarily.

Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow comes to mind.
Gangster Squad was wonderfully pulp-y (one of the characters is even the star of his own pulp novels).
The Phantom and the Shadow, of course.
I really liked John Carter.
For pulp heroes set in present day, I'd recommend the film John Wick and the TV show Person of Interest. -
I think Suicide Squad will join those ranks. Mars Attacks.
ps And which MUMMY series are you talking about. Are we talking of the Brendon Fraser trilogy or the Boris Kharloff, Peter Cushing, Christopher Lee set. These days the latter are just as much a hoot to watchComment
