What happened to 3001?

Last year on November 3 syfy announced an adaptation of A,C,Clarke's 3001: the last odyssey by R.Scott.

8 months passed and absolutely no news. Propably one more show that syfy abandoned.

Pity, that was a good book. Could have been a good project. Let's hope they are still going at it.

Sometimes projects take a long time to develop, and it's possible someone is still working on (or re-writing) a screenplay before the decision is made to move forward.

If it never happens, it won't be the first time they've dumped something already announced, and it also happens at other networks. When they were still the Sci-Fi Channel they said they were going to do Ringworld and Red Mars, and I'm sure if I wracked my brain enough I could think of a few other examples.
