How do modern jets compare to death gliders in atmosphere

That depends on what kind of answer you want.

Realistically speaking, it's like comparing a kite to a rocket.

We saw 302s do very well against gliders. The only time we saw regular fighters go against death gliders was in Continuoum when the Russian jets showed up to blow those 4 gliders that were chasing the team.

and are we talking realistically or in-universe? because anything that can go to space, will easily outrun a jet fighter.
