no. Though it has been assumed to be:

a. transportation for ground troops
b. something to absorb the planet's eco-life to power the Wraith ships
c. a trap that beams up humans surrounding the trap
d. a drop off for dart ships
e. a psychological trap that renders neighboring humans mentally weak
f. a bomb to destroy infrastructure
g. apple pie

Dident they mention what it was in another episode? I thought it was some sort of tagging beem, or i heard something elce and assumed hey said that.

im pretty sure it was to gain bio for there ship and be able to power it

But sending darts is what you said, recon, sending a beem down that will obviously do something to the planet would probably be some sort of tagging, and im sure he did say this at the same time as mentioning the beem.
