STARGATE SG-1 POW #3 CREATOR COMMENTARY

This is it! Stargate SG-1: P.O.W. #3 is now on sale! The team is
splintered, forces within the SGC are working to countermand the O’Neill rescue effort, and a daring assault on the Goa’uld controlled P7X-132 is under way to bring their man back. This issue has it all, and caps off our first exciting story arc for the SG-1 team. We wanted our initial storyline to end with a bang, and I’m sure you’ll agree, this one does just that (quite literally)!

One of the things I really love about licensed comic books is that they continue to come out all year long, even when your favorite series is airing only reruns on the tube. It’s really the same for all fans, regardless of your favorite genres or TV shows. After sweeps week, you’re just out of luck. It’s just you, the TV, and a date with either PBS or the local baseball game. During those long dry months, nothing is better than walking into the local comic book shop and finding a new issue of your favorite series sitting on the shelf. Comic fans get to regularly enjoy new tales while the rest of the fan base watches the same reruns over and over. Hey, comics are kind of like DVD extras that keep coming after you’ve watched every episode and featurette on the discs.

They provide those rare looks at familiar villains and unfinished
business that the television series may have left open.

Stargate SG-1: P.O.W. is very much like that. We crafted a series set within the parameters of Season One continuity that adds to the
established history of the show. The details were carefully considered and checked to make sure it didn’t contradict the existing framework, but acted as another look into the hundreds of SG missions that we never see.

We wanted the behind-the-scene pass to what happens in the SGC, and we got it!

Now we want your feedback on the comics, what you thought of them, what you liked and didn’t like, and most importantly what you want to see in the future. Did you like the phenomenal art by Renato Guedes? Did the dialogue sound authentic to you? Could you hear O’Neill and company as they talked? Who do you want to see more of -- Jack, Sam, Daniel, or Teal’c? Do you want more of the whole team? Do you want more Bra’tac (sorry -- he’s one of my favorites)? Would you rather see adventures set within season continuity or brand new adventures set in the current season? Do you prefer non-stop over-the-top action or intricate character development, or both? Who is hotter -- Sam or Janet -- Daniel or Teal’c? OK-- I’m digressing here. Anyway, the bottom line is we want to know. Visit us regularly at www.sg-1.us for updates on upcoming projects and keep us informed of what you think of the books.

Time for the really big news! Coming soon to a comic shop near you --
Stargate SG-1: Fall of Rome! This is the follow up series to Stargate SG-1: P.O.W. Where P.O.W. was the introduction to the team and their adventures, Rome is the dive-in head-first plunge into the deep end of Stargate expeditions! For a sneak preview of what is to come -- make sure you pick up the Stargate SG-1: 2004 Convention Special that is on sale now. It features a brand new SG-1 story called "Know your Enemy", focusing on the dread System Lord Apophis, and introducing us to one of the newest Stargate artists, Jorge Correa! Jorge’s work is awesome and his creativity is unmatched. Make sure you page through the issue to the back where we provide a few tantalizing samples of the adventures to come in Stargate SG-1: Fall of Rome #1. Trust me -- you will be glad you did! And be on the look out for Stargate SG-1: Fall of Rome Prequel, due out in July. This special issue will provide a look into the history behind the new Goa’uld menace of Mars and has some visually stunning scenes from the past.

    Best wishes,

    James Anthony Kuhoric
