going completely through the event horizon before re-materializing on the other side

i know of the theory that an object must go completely into the event horizon before it can be re-materialized on the other side.. (As shown in episode 'thirty-eight minutes', where the iratus bug latched itself to john sheppard's neck and the puddle jumper got stuck halfway through the gate)

but what about episode 'Torment of Tantalus' (where they got an active wormhole for the first time in 1945 and the scientist went through in one of those old diving suits)
the suit was connected to an airline which was severed when the wormhole deactivated

wouldn't u say that the airline is part of the suit?
since he didnt completely go through the event horizon(considering the airline), how was he able to re-materialize safely on the other planet??
Blessed is he who expects nothing, for he shall never be disappointed

There were quite a few times when staff(SP) weapons & when Kawolskis(SP) head got chopped off too.

Part of Kawolski's head was cut off because the gate was shut down manually,if i remember correctly.

That stuff was retconned out. Let's just say that there was a defect in the air line and it broke at the event horizon.
