HBO is developing another WWII miniseries

    http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/liv...iseries-413632

Not much information so far, but enough to discuss I believe.

Thoughts? Feelings? I personally can't wait, I just hope it isn't as long of a wait like between Band of Brothers and The Pacific.

I don't mind a wait, being that the series aren't related.

I just hope that it's more Band of Brothers and less The Pacific.

I must be one of those strange people that quite enjoyed The Pacific. Was it as good as Band of Brothers? Of course not. Nothing ever will be, I believe. But I think a lot of people (not necessarily you, Digi) expected too much from The Pacific after the success of Band of Brothers, and were let down. However I consider both quite excellent (though the run time of The Pacific on an episode by episode basis left much to be desired)

Personally, I had been hoping for a third miniseries, but I was hoping something that would cover Africa, Sicily and Italy, or for something from a different national perspective (British or Russian...I don't think a German one would do very well in the US, the main audience).

I think The Pacific suffered from terrible editing (both in terms of script and sceen). There's a ton of good material in every single episode, but they did a lousy job of streamlining the stories.

Anyway: hope this new one will rock

Read about this earlier as well. Should be excellent. My grandfather was an aerial gunner in an A-26 Invader over Europe, so I'll have a little personal connection. He was also a tailgunner in a bomber a few times.

for me hte Pacific needed a slightly larger cast. Part of the draw of things like this is likability in the main characters, within reason, the more you have, the more likely for you to find someone.

With the Pacific, if you didn't like the few main characters, then it was just gory battle after gory battle. Kinda trying.

While BoB certainly had its gore and battle, it had more interpersonal scenes where you got to know and care about the characters. Not as much in Pacific.

Having an interest in military aviation. This sounds interesting.

Incidentally, the title of this (currently, anyway) is Masters of the Air.

Sounds cool. I enjoyed both BoB and TP quite a lot.

I hope that the show has the other types of aircraft that the USAAF used. If they concentrate on the B17 it may get boring.

I'm sure they will as bombers needed escorts.

I'm seriously wondering if Red Tails had anything to do with this...I mean, for a fairly low budget the CG didn't look overly horrible, and I'm sure with the larger budget that this series will undoubtedly have will lead to better CG.

But then again, the series will focus more on the characters than the actual battles...

I sure that the Memphis Belle will get a mention.
                          I would like to see B24 Liberator's, B25 Mitchell's and perhaps B26 Marauder's etc.
