Why did atlantis expedition not utilize SG1 tech

Probably a dumb question thats been asked before but in all seriousness, If they just had a few suits of Kull warrior armor, and a couple zats. 1. The psychological impact would have earned the Atlantis expedition a lot more respect among say ..the Genai and other troublesome people reducing the chances of tactical incursions even occuring in the first place. Not to mention a single team outfitted with salvaged Kull armor would have been a massive advantage in any ground engagement.

Kull warriors were hardly smart, But that technology combined with our peoples military prowess would have been immensely useful in not only preventing bad situations from occuring but from stomping them out of existence once they occured, and even allow us to preserve the lives of the enemy in the process.

And before you go on about how that goes against certain philosophies (the ability to use overwhelming force might cause some level of corruptibility or not considering the consequences of your actions). think of the Nox. If you had a team that was invulnerable to energy and projectile weapons, you could crush an unfriendly incursion without even having to return fire, and safely end the situation. The zats would also have been useful for that.

Especially considering they thought it was unlikely they would be able to get back to earth to begin with you would think they would send the Atlantis expedition with every edge they could muster.

We never really saw SG-1 use the Kull Warrior armor, so why would we expect the Atlantis Expedition to use it? As for Staff and Zat weapons being sent to Atlantis, they're only effective at close range. It also helped separate the two shows. Besides, the Atlantis Expedition eventually acquired Wraith stunners, so...

Yes because the best thing for the expedition is to allow the Wraith to get more powerful technology.

yeah thats one of the things that urked me about the whole series in general.

We have ships now with asgard tech but our ground troops are still just as primitive as in season 1. The whole objective was to aquire technologies to to defend earth...and now most of that tech is pushed to the limit to save ground troops who otherwise would not be in the given situation if they had bothered to upgrade personal gear..

We didn't see SG1 use the kull armor, but we know they could have. After all, Jacob Carter wore it in "Evolution", and Vala wore it in "Prometheus Unbound". Even though Prometheus Unbound happened after the Atlantis Expedition left earth, we still know that humans could easily use the armor.

Perhaps those 2 suits were the only ones that were ever acquired..

And they couldn't come up with their own?

To me, the kull warrior armour looked heavy, restrictive, and cumbersome. I've no doubt it would be good to outfit shock troops with them but for scouts, trailblazers and explorers, such as the Atlantis teams, it would have been pants. Utter pants.

I did think it odd they never took zats with them, though we did see one in use during an episode when Wraith took control of midway and infiltrated Earth. It was nice to see the weapon make its comeback, and it wouldn't have had that effect if it had been in use for the previous 3 seasons.

I think it's three suits. The ones in Evolution - the first kull warrior "killed" by Teal'c and Bratac; the second being the one they captured by venting all the air out of its chamber on the cargo ship (and that one undoubtedly died while in captivity, since it is implied they don't really live all that long). And, of course, the one Vala was using - which I'm pretty sure she left behind when she escaped from Prometheus at the end of the episode.

Actually, there's also the 4th one from "Death Knell", which was killed at the end of the episode by the weapon developed by Sam and Jacob.

I thought they ringed him out of the ship, the rings and the kull warrior having fallen to the surface?

That was the one the got on the cargo ship when Sam, Teal'c, Jacob and Bratac were escaping from Anubis' planet toward the end of part 2 of "Evolution". It shot Teal'c, hit Sam, and then Jacob lured it into the cargo bay where the rings were and dumped it into space.

The one you are commenting on is the 2d one, which was captured. They set up a trap to try and catch one, but it shot up the whole operation, Reynolds was injured, the whole group from the SGC was captured and then released, and then somebody came up with the idea of using a cargo ship to capture the kull warrior. They vented the air from the cargo hold it was in, and it took something like 10 minutes before it passed out. They took that one back to the SGC and got information out of it as to where Anubis' base was. We were never told what happened to that warrior, but I assume it didn't last very long in captivity.

To those of you saying they never used the Kull armour, you're right, they didn't use the full suits. But in "Heroes" Dr. Bill shows off some of the work they've been doing with the Kull armour, specifically making it compact and usable by SG teams as a form of polymer sheet inserted into their vests.

Maybe the Atlantis teams were using these?

If they did it was obviously not effective in absorbing Wraith stunner fire.

Apparently so. Though if I recall, Wraith stunners seemed to have a ripple effect all over the persons body, maybe it bypassed the armour. Or maybe they never wore it at all.
