for me it was the 1997 lost in space movie..... although I do have vague memories of an alien monster running around a big dark building so I suspect someone way have let me see part of Alien 3 when I was a toddler

I think it was '2001 : A Space Odyssey'.
My family went to see it when I was about 9 or 10.
But then again it might have been 'Star Wars' back in 1977."What do you mean by 'Oopps'?"

I’m not sure what my first encounter was, it was probably some cartoon or kids show at some point when I was younger, I do remember seeing “The Jetsons” on Cartoon Network when I was very young so it’s probably that. My first non-kid or animated Sci-Fi movie was Star Wars though, I think I was 11 and they had a SW movie marathon and showed episode 4,5,6 and 1 on TV and I just loved what I saw and after that I was hooked on anything Sci-Fi.

Well, my first memorable sci-fi movie of any sort was probably "Planet of the Apes". "2001: A Space Odyssey" is up there, too. And reruns on TV of old SF films from before I was born; I'm sure I saw my share of those while growing up.
The first Star Wars film had a major impact on me, of course.Sum, ergo scribo...
