It would be interesting if it were true. Seems kind of out there, but not beyond the possibility of the show.

I also think, if you see the preview for this next weeks episode, Mr Gold tells Emma he is not the person who can help her with getting her son back. I think the real father IS the person who can help her, whoever that ends up being.

I was very unsure of this show when it started, but lately, I'm really enjoying all the twists and turns. And if we have more ep like The Return, I'll be a happy camper. I love the fact that I've been wrong about a lot of things on this show. It's certainly not boring and predictable like the mass of TV out there.

99.5%

The 0.5% is for some freak accident happening to the main cast that would prevent the show from continuing

I really hope that is the case. If so, my wife will be very pleased.

You know, I had the same experience. When the show was new I was unsure of it. I think most shows are like that, however, the first bunch of episodes tend to be getting into the flow type.

That is how I felt about SG1, I could never get into it because i had only seen the first 5 or so episodes and then gave up.
Well, on a re-watch now and we are almost through season 3 and the only thing I don't like is how slowly I am going through them!!!!!

I think sometimes we may not be in the "right place" in our heads or lives to enjoy some shows. I've watched a lot of TV or films and enjoyed them, when I hadn't liked them in the past. Funny how that works.

OUAT is a perfect show for me. It reminds me to Stargate and the Highlander because of the mixed fantasy and modern scenes. But is has got also really good and talented actors, complex and planned story lines with motivating cliff-hangers, super special effects, nice costumes and sets. This one is one of such shows which can be watched again and again and I can sill enjoy it. So I hope this show will be able to reach at least 5 seasons. :)

They pretended they didn't know, it was only when Gold was in the cell did he admit to her that he knew who they both were. But actually, seeing how they adjusted to life in Storybrook early on would be interesting.

I first stopped OUAT because I was annoyed by it, in order to watch this new fall shows and my SG:U re-watch but I decided to finish this show because I want to see how they trying to turn season one around, just watched The Staple Boy, my favorite characters are Mr. Gold obviously and Regina, she is kind of cool.

December 31st, 2012, 04:03 PM
I'm taking my time in working through the first season of OUAT, and am quite enjoying it.

I have noticed, though (and this is not a criticism) that all of the main female cast are about as thin as sticks, and it is quite evident when they are in the magic land wardrobe. I love the gown that Princess Abigail(?) (King Midas' daughter) helps James because she doesn't want to marry him either. It was such a lovely outfit, but I noticed in certain frames just how slender she is. One could practically wrap both hands around her waist, and there'd still be room left over.

I had also noticed this with Emma, Snow, Red, Regina, and a few other female cast members. I guess it's the age old issue of "the thinner, the better". The only ones who are not that thin are Granny and James' mother and a few other older ladies.

But back to the comment about wardrobe. LOVE the gorgeous outfits they get to wear in magic land! :P

I can't decide who is my favorite character. It changes depending on the episode. Though I do really like the genii for some reason; even though I can't stand his character in "Revolution". :p

I watch this series on and off. There is one thing that really irks me: the writers seem to have only a superficial knowledge of the fairy tales, mainly based on their Disney versions, which are less than accurate, and many times, tone down. The tales from the Brothers Grimm are quite dark and raw. If they want to give it a dark edge, I'd strongly advise them to read the originals. I know, telling someone to read something is sooo old school.

Since ABC is owned by Disney I understand the bent to the Disney version but with how much they are changing (I think on purpose) to make it there a own so it doesn't bother me it is still a great show imo

Yeah, it is not that is a bad show, but since the idea seems to be an adult look at fairy tales, I'd thought they would work with better source material...

I think August is an important part of the show overall, but particularly for my enjoyment of it. I didn't realize how much I liked his scenes until they stopped. The only thing I know is that when I spoke with Jane Espenson a couple weeks ago, she was already talking about OUAT at comic-con and some special surprises. I would doubt there would be such planning if they weren't confident to be renewed. REnewal rarely come before May. The show is a hit, and not "on the bubble"

Just out of curiosity, does anybody know if the show's getting renewed for a third season? I haven't heard anything about it yet, though it may be too early to know.

Seeing from the previews for next week's episode, I think I might know who Bae is in the real world. I think it's...

Neal Cassidy, Emma's past love interest and the supposed father of Henry. Judging from Emma's face from the preview, it seems that she knows someone who is possibly Bae, and it could be him.

Of course, I could be wrong. It's just a theory.

i can't help thinking that if everyone was allowed (or forced) to return to the fairytale land, they wouldn't appreciate it like they used to. they're too used to living a much, much more convenient life to have to go back to the middle ages, so to speak.

But wasn't most of FTL destroyed by the curse. I just rewatched "Broken" the season opener, and that's what they said in the Mulan part. So what would they go back to? Was the land itself ruined, or could they rebuild their homes, farms, castles, what-have-you?

The ruins of the castle where Emma was born and where Snow and Charming were living were still there. Just in ruins. Snow showed it to Emma and told her that it was where she'd been born.

I'm sure things could be rebuilt, but it would take a huge effort, and who knows how many of citizens of Storybrooke would want to go back and do all that.

I think they would be divided by that issue. Subsistence living is extremely hard and time consuming. I could see the dwarves wanting to go back, they supposedly thrive on work, work, work. As someone who heats her home with wood, it is very hard work cutting wood by hand, (had to do it once or twice) and I can't imagine doing without everything else, like flashlights.
What I want to know is: did Mr. Gold actually drive on a freeway when they went to the airport? For someone about 300 years old and never been out of that little town in our world, I can't imagine him trying to drive in real traffic! Added to his airport anxiety no doubt. :p

It's his intensity for me.

OUAT is such an OTT concept that they need Carlyle to give it some gravitas. The general thread of Snow/Charming seeking each other out just because they're in love would wear extremely thin over the course of dozens of episodes if there weren't more complex characters like Rumple to round out the cast, imo.

To me, a big attraction was uncovering the truths, and waiting to see what would happen next, that doesn't really play into this season at all.

I completely agree, mainly because there's no reason anymore to be on the edge of your seat waiting for the next episode.

i like all the actors, but some of them are kind of bland. or maybe it's the writing.
I've liked every show I've seen Jennifer Morrison on, but I'm very neutral about her as an actress. House, MD, How I Met Your Mother, and here, she's really just okay, and probably the weakest actress I've ever seen in a leading primetime role.

I've always been rather meh about Emma's character and the actress. She's certainly not the reason I like the show.

I've enjoyed the first two eps of this season. Though I had skipped the majority of last season but got caught up with a marathon on Netflix before the premier. I find I enjoy shows more when I can watch them in large swaths like that rather than dealing with the time between episodes during normal airing on tv.

A little thread spamming in an effort to make sure folks aren't caught off guard this weekend

Heads up re the next Server Move:

Estimated downtime will be 3-4hrs between the 11th and 14th of October.
Changes to DNS settings will be nearly instantaneous for most of us, but propagation (ie reconnection to the new server address) may take hours,or as much as 24-48 hours to reach everyone, since it depends on your ISP.

If there are any changes to that schedule,or any other info,we'll try to let you all know in advance via the Ask the Mods thread ,this thread ,the Alphasite and/or GW Twitter.

Basically there are so many happy couples in the show that I doubt that writers are brave enough to kill a few of them. What will happen with Regina if she meets Robin? Will they be a disgustingly happy couple? Will all her crimes be forgotten? I doubt it, because Regina and Rumpi can be a potential serial killer any moment as soon as they are unhappy. But the writers try to convince us that they can change and they deserve a second chance, but they killed so many characters that I doubt there will be a logical redemption. We will see... :)

Ginnifer Goodwin Pregnant: Once Upon a Time Star Expecting Baby With Fiance Josh Dallas

Once Upon a Time actress Ginnifer Goodwin is pregnant and expecting a baby with fiance and costar Josh Dallas, their reps tell Us WeeklyCredit: FameFlynet

A little prince or princess is on the way for Snow White and Prince Charming! Once Upon a Time actress Ginnifer Goodwin is pregnant and expecting a baby with fiance (and costar) Josh Dallas, their reps confirm to Us Weekly.

Rumors that the 35-year-old Something Borrowed star had a baby on board first swirled when she was photographed on the set of her hit ABC drama in a gray swing coat that seemed to strategically conceal her stomach.

This will be the first child for Goodwin and Dallas, 31. Together since March 2012, the couple confirmed their engagement to Us in October of this year, just a few days after the actor popped the question.

"They really hit it off," a source told Us Weekly of the costars in 2012. "She and Josh have a blast together and had instant chemistry."

Didn't Hook at some point drink from that spring that saved (temporarily) his brother, and that saved David? I seem to remember him drinking from it with one of those two. That should mean he couldn't leave the island either, except that he has left the island prior to all of this.

Or I could be imagining it. :p

Why not the family tree is already ridiculous, lets make it crazy lol, however i guess it can't get any crazier than

Henry's Great Grandfather being younger than his Grandfather, or his other Grandfather being roughly the same age as his mum and dad

I swear Henry will eventually be related to everyone lol

Channel Five in the UK hasn't renewed it, but the show's ratings are good for that channel. I think it may have to do with how much it costs, rather than ratings. Hopefully another channel will pick it up.

Pretty much every show goes on hiatus because of Thanks giving and Christmas when people travel and are not always at home to watch then in the beginning of the year is award season, the Super Bowl, and March Maddness. Instead of fighting for shares in those audiences or doing a week or two of new eps then a week or two or three with no eps it is better to just wait until spring and finish the season

You are right about December breaks but not all shows spilit their seasons in the half like OUAT did last season. Maybe its because of the shows serial nature. I have heard serial tv against airing reruns because they rate very low

With the day they are on though they have awards shows they would be competing against and sporting events and those shows will take viewers away from OUaT. It does suck that they have to do the break like they do but unless ABC changes the day there is no way to avoid it

Which is less than a year or two ago as more time goes on that number will go down more heck if the local news streamed live when it aired I would probably cut my wires too. That is a myth

Not a myth

Last time I checked 85% of TV viewers still watch the traditional way. Not really significant

15% would likely be considered significant by most advertisers. Considering that of the assumed 15% I would imagine the majority are under 35.

While the majority of people still watch tv via cable\satellite broadcast, I tend to agree that the online watching segment is becoming big enough to be noticed. I probably watch 20% of my tv via the web, but maybe only 5% of new content.

Nielsen, a renowned TV rating company is looking to collaborate with Facebook in order to track what viewers see on their respective devices. Nielsen had been focusing on the TV viewership tracking but, in the recent past, they are not able to find the accurate viewing habits, thanks to the age of smartphones.

Are you familiar with the term spin? Just because Neilson is doing something does not make it count. Nielson has been counting Live +7 numbers for years but most advertisers will tell you those numbers are pretty useless as DVRers tend to skip the commercials. When you consider you need millions for a show to be successful, the online viewing numbers aren't there yet
