    Novus's holiday schedule.

Given the fresh start of a civilization, who would be keeping up to date of a calendar system? Unless someone packed solar panels or generators, I cannot imagine anyones' laptops would survive pass a week of even on/off use.

At least one person would have had to keep a schedule. Chloe kept a diary.

So based on this, let's speculate how they would establish a holiday schedule.

Keep in mind that Novus doesn't follow Earths' rotation cycle. So the concept of 12 months, 365 days, 24 hours, 60 minutes, gregorian calendar may not apply.

Is there a Christmas? How do they know when the Novus new years is? If they were to start afresh, when would they have switched from gregorian A.D. calendar to Novus calendar?

And holidays... let's conceptualize what could have been established for these people.

No one had a laptop. They only took their clothes and about six smuggled Kinos.

As for holidays, their founders probably had a good number of days named after them.

laptops and phones both can survive a long while without charging - if you assume they're being turned on once every few days, for 2-5 minutes at a time. remember, all you need is enough to check the date to keep a basic track - on a laptop, you don't need windows for that. just open the bios.

assuming there's several devices, it's not hard to pool them together and keep one running at a time only.

we were never told that novus doesn't follow earth rotation - it's a reasonable assumption, but it's equally reasonable not to assume it. however, it's also not really relevant - keep track of how many days you've been there, and use the scientific knowledge available to work out the rotation. i can't imagine that, out of however many scientists that are there, no one would be able to figure it out.

a diary could easily be kept on the 'number of days' principle - and in fact, from chloe's diary, she didn't seem to mention dates, but amounts of time (e.g. 2 weeks.) work rotas could easily be worked out on earth standard weeks initially, adapting to local conditions when they were sure of them. though considering everyone was out working in the fields, building houses, et cetera, chances are they didn't have much time for rest and relaxation.

some specific holidays like christmas - while commercialised here on earth - do have religious meanings behind them. in setting up a new, single civilisation, some of these things might have been determined better to be left out of 'community' status, and kept personal, so people didn't feel forced into them. of course, it's equally possible they were adapted to reflect the joint nature of the community, so that regardless of beliefs people might be able to join in without issues.

Assuming Novus spins on an axis that isn't perpendicular to it's orbit, they should be able to recreate the Winter Solstice (Christmas) just by gauging on which day the star of their system is lowest in the Novus sky. Easter is basically a fertility festival that the Christians reimagined (much like the Winter Solstice), so that could be recreated too during their equivalent of Spring. I'm guessing they would also make a holiday of the day they first came to Novus, assuming they could tell accurately when it was.

if they kept track of the number of days since arrival, then it shouldn't be too hard. chloe's diary seemed to do that, at least somewhat, and while eli's wasn't shown his desire to document everything would have needed a context - so it's reasonable to assume they could work out the arrival date, within the planetary year (once they had that figured out of course.)

my guess is that they clocked out how long the planet takes to rotate the sun. then the first day of the year would be the day that they officially started counting. as for holiday's i imagine that they celebrated them as close as they could get to the actual day. but i imagine over a few generations the earth holidays vanished and were replaced with new ones such as their new years.

Worker's holiday could be "Wray Day".

Well one holiday I assume that future generations would have celebrated would most likely be Ancestors/Founders Day, the day when the crew came to Novus and officially settled there.
