Why didn't the crew when stranded on novus use the stones ? They could have probably connected with some ancients *probably* since they were thrown into the past.

Also i would think merlin would be around 2000 years ago on earth ?

They didn't take the stones with them. There were still supposed to be folks remaining behind.

the crew didn't take the stones all 4 stones were still on destiny. anything in a 9th chevron transit becomes a projectile

As established in Twin Destinies the stone were left on Destiny. Its how Alt. Rush could connect with Earth

They had 'packed' to return to earth so why would they leave all the stones behind ?

They must have taken a couple of them since they had 4-5 stones.

But they barely took anything with them because of the emergency conditions that arose. Also, as I stated before, not everyone was going home.

Destiny could have blown any second. Perserving life was more important.

Having a stone does little good without the one power source.

It would make no sense to take any of the stones back to Earth as long as people were left on the ship.

They took a kino with them and at least one remote. That's not nothing.

But the stones WERE left behind on Alternate Destiny, which is how Rush contacted Earth to learn that only Telford got through.

If they HAD taken the stones... Atlantis would have already been abandoned by the Ancients (that happened 10,000 years ago) They might have contacted some of the Ancients living on Earth or elsewhere (or maybe someone in the Ori galaxy) but what would they say? "Hey, we're out here, way farther away than you have the capability to travel in your lifetime. Just thought we'd say hi."

But without the terminal why would htey have taken the stones?? and the reason it was left was cause of rush and the others who were staying.

Not on the alternate destiny. The only reason rush was allowed to stay was to stabilize the connection.

No, on the alternate destiny there were ten people who were originally going to stay behind. It wasn't until after they had dialed Earth and the stargate began malfunctioning that only Rush was going to stay behind.
