    Wraith Tech -atlantis spoilers-

This thread has been created to talk about Wraith technology and assumptions based of what we have seen so far.

Feel free to add any thing you dont see in the list below. I will update the list whenever someone posts it

    Wraith Tech
    • - Contributed by alz0rz -
    • Hyperdrive technology - (as seen in 'Letters from Pegasus')
    • Ancient tech understanding (as seen in 'The Defiant One')

      - Contributed by aAnubiSs -

    • Wraith Stunner: They have probably the best troop weapon ever. The Wraith Stunner is amazing. Can't kill you, not even after multiple shots and you stay down for hours(or something). Having these turreted covered in Kull-armor on the BC-303 as a extremely good weapon for taking out hostiles. Building a more ergonomic version of these should be Earths first prio. when they get the hands on them. 100 times better then a P90, Zat, Staff + whatever.
    • Wraith grenade: Unimpressive. Why would the Wraith need hand grenades? it'd kill their food. It's radius in small, and fairly weak. Homefully there are proximity-detonation too as well as mine options. That would make the grenade much more useful for Humans, but not for the Wraith.
I could see the Wraith using the Goa'uld shock grenade, it would make more sense.
    • Wraith beacon: Awsome piece of equipment. I would've installed then in my Stunners too.
    • Wraith obervation probe: A Small, fast scout probe used in Children's End. Very good probe, could need some upgrades such as improved sensors, so that they wouldn't need to get that close.
    • Wraith Dart: Amazing ship. Obviously built as a Wraith Puddle Jumper. Extremely fast, awsome weaponary, probably the best plasma-based weapon we've seen on the show. My guess would be Neutron Plasma or something like that. The Dart even got room for a few HappyMeals in the back.
    • Wraith Cruiser: a Wraith Dart on steroids. Probably an extremely powerful vessel. I'd put it superior over The Asgard's O'Neill. Unknown if they are capable of hyperdrive-travel themselves but I'm pretty certain they can.
    • Wraith HiveShip: A Wraith Carrier. 3 Cruisers and atleast 100 Darts. Probably have powerful shields but not so powerful weapons. This is their Ha'tak vessel. Hyperdrive technology probably as advanced as the Asgards.
    • Wraith Cargo Transport: Small vessel transporting atleast food. Could very well be versions out there providing military supplies too. Bit too big for a dropship, but could be used as a dropship duringplanetary invasions
    • Wraith Observer Satellite: Able to pick up Wraith Locator beacons. Probably left on worlds close to HiveShips.

What would be nice to do is start off like a list of everything we have seen and what we can assume they have.

    So I'll start us off:
    • Hyperdrive technology (as seen in 'Letters from Pegasus')
    • Fair amount of Ancient tech understanding (as seen in 'The Defiant One')
I think they have some biotech stuff too and I think their tech is prolly more advanced than Asgard and Goa'uld.

Well yeah, from the looks of the hive ships - it seemed that they had some biomechanical stuff in there - but then again I may just be seeing things.

          What they have:

I could see the Wraith using the Goa'uld shock grenade, it would make more sence.

Wraith self-destruct bomb: It's ok but the blinking lights and sound really gives it away.

Wraith beacon: Awsome piece of equipment. I would've installed then in my Stunners too.

Wraith obervation probe: A Small, fast scout probe used in Children's End. Very good probe, could need some upgrades such as improved sensors, so that they wouldn't need to get that close.

          Did I miss anything?

          Assumtions

HiveShip beam: Resource gathering. Taking up materials from the ground and converting them into usable fuel, materials for ship construction etc.

I agree with you one everything but these 2. I see no reason to assume the Wraith scout could take on an O'Neill Class, though it's more than a match for a Puddle Jumper. It would need some form of Hyperdrive to make it from a nearby Gate to Atlantis in anything approaching a reasonble amount of time (less than a century or 2).

I also see no reason to assume that the Wraith Hive ships have hyperdrive anywhere near the Asgard level either... if they had Asgard level hyper-drive, they would have come to cull in the Milky Way at some point as well.

Have you seen Letters from Pegasus? Each HiveShip had three escort cruisers. They are the Cruisers. The scout they sent in Brotherhood was just a Dart with extra fuel IMO.

Why shouldn't they have Asgard-tier hyperdrive? They've got access to alot of Ancient technology so why shouldn't they be able to use Ancient tech too. The Ancients probably had hyperdrive technology that was much faster then the Asgard version.

There are over 100 billion galaxies in the universe, and the Wraith don't know where the Miky Way is located. It's like looking for a "needle in a haystack of infinite size", as Thor would say.

There are only 30 in the Local Group though... and the Asgard have ships capable of making the journey between Galaxies in hours. If they have such engines, it would be a fairly simple task to scout the local group for more chow. I think the best evidence so far that they can't is that they haven't. Especially given the small size of the Pegasus Galaxy. I would think it logical that they would have sent some hyper-drive enabled ships to some of the beefier galaxies in the Local Group just to scout for new food sources. It would have been a better option than a few lengthy hibernations between cullings. All my opinion, of course. I'm wrong alot, though.

Ok... I misunderstood you there. I wasn't thinking of those.

The culling beam is the beam that picks up people during a culling. It can be issued from a Dart as well as from a Hive ship (I think. Correct me if I'm wrong). I don't know if this particular beam is what you're referring to when you put in the hiveShip Beam.

How do you guys think the Wraith keep the humans in those pods? Where they keep them for later meals Some sort of stasis? Or are they just attached to it alive?

I mean the one we saw in Letters from Pegasus. The one that came from a HiveShip in orbit and was focused on a single location on the planet the whole time. I don't think it was a culling beam where the Darts drop off their oomans.
The Wraith Darts may store the human bodies as energy and then materialize them when returning to the mothership.

I think those "pods" that you refer to are the Wraith hibernation pods. The hibernation pods are the Wraith equivalent of stasis chambers essentially.

(Those hexagonal looking things in the ceiling of the Hiveship shortly after the atlantis team infiltrates the Hiveship in "Rising")

I think the Wraith store their human food subjects by other means (coccooned in a general "Feeding Area" I guess).

So that human we saw in Underground, that the Genii kills, could we assume that he was just captured? Or that he has been there for a long time?
