What is the thing about the show that most made you watch?

For me, it was the funny stuff. The comedy was a little different than you usually see on TV or in movies. Such as:
    (a) Ronin's culture and SGA's culture meeting, especially when they describe television to him. "And that's what everybody on your planet does for entertainment? Watch a box?"
    (b) Sci-fi jokes. "We're not naming it 'The Enterprise.'" It's almost like breaking the fourth wall, but it's not...
    (c) Sheppard's comedic way of reacting to scary, ridiculous, awkward, etc. situations.
    (d) Ronin has a kind of deadpan reaction to things that can be pretty funny.
    (e) [Rodney's given painkillers]"Have you seen a guy? He looks kind of like you only he has funny hair. I think I lost him. And a pretty girl. And a caveman." There's just something about the way he said that.
    (f) Everyone's reaction to the ethical dilemma about the train, the ten people and the baby. "Why don't the people move?" "They're blind." "Are they deaf, too?" "How fast is the train going?" Totally missed the point.

Yeah, those last two were kinda random...

    So, anyone else?

I loved the chemistry on the show. And the funny lines. They could be about to die but I would end up laughing.

Joe Flanigan and David Hewlett! Those two have amazing chemistry together.
Why did you do such a thing, you mediocre dunces?

I watched this show because :

          - It was a Sci-Fi Show
          - Because of friend of mine was just crazy about it (and crazy about David Hewlett )
          - Because it was funny, which is quite rare, nowadays...
          - Because of lovable characters like Beckett ♥...
          - Because it's one of the best Sci-Fi show !

Team, Chemistry, Atlantis itself. SGA had something I only found in a few other shows.

I was a fan of SG-1, I enjoyed McKay (much more on SGA than SG-1), and Atlantis is awesome. The city was very cool.

Because of SG1. I probably wouldn't have tuned in if I didn't watch SG1. Then after I tuned in Teyla kept me watching, also Carson and Lorne helped me stay tuned. John/Teyla also kept me coming back.

Boy do I wish now that I hadn't bothered.

                          - the characters were great: Sheppard, McKay, Beckett, Weir, Lorne ...
                          - awesome city
                          - cool ancient technology
                          - wonderful puddlejumper
                          - the sparkling stargate
                          - interesting enemies like Wraith and Replicators
                          - funny Shep/McKay oder Shep/Ronon lines
                          - just enough whumping the heroes

                          and so forth ...

                            Okay, I'll make a list.

                            - The city itself, exploring and understanding it.
                            - Exploring a new galaxy with new civilizations/aliens.
                            - The Wraith
                            - The ships and tech.
                            - The characters (Mainly Shep, Teyla, Beckett, Ronon, and McKay).
                            - Beckett/McKay banter/interactions.
                            - Shep/Ronon interactions.
                            - John/Teyla, or as some call them JT, Jeyla, or Sheyla.
                            - The ties that the lost city of Atlantis has to the storyline of the Ancients.
                            - Team interactions (Main 4 plus Beckett)
                            - I had hoped for a well-planned and intricate overarching storyline that lead to an epic climax, but...

That's it off of the top of my head.

The characters are quite compelling, and I like the story.
